Sensitive subject which should have a warning

The subject for the murder is surprising and rather sordid , I wouldn’t have bought it had I known what it was about. At times the story was long winded with too much details.

Intriguing but repetitious. Some parts rather disgusting

Not for the squeamish. The reader does very well with the various voices, generally not interfering with enjoyment of the narrative. A few rare mispronunciations. I felt in a number of places it was padded out by repetition and I wanted the story to move on. Toward the end it revealed some abhorrent goings-on, so be prepared. Plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing.

William Monk Defend and Betray

Well written and supported by good narration. Sometimes a good story is spoilt by poor narration, however the narration of this book was, in my opinion, just right. William Monk is a flawed individual but immensely likeable. Great portrayal of Victorian life. A bit too much distraction, for me, of the main story by Monks seeking answers to his own life.
