Summary

This is a stand-alone. Though it is book four in the Tall, Dark and Deadly series (and book one in the Walker Security series), it contains an overarching plot from the previous books in the Tall, Dark and Deadly series (see the Tall, Dark and Deadly books 1-4 Boxed Set).

Bonus sampler book: This edition includes excerpts from these 11 best-selling authors: Audrey Carlan, Carly Phillips, Kim Karr, Kyra Davis, Nicole Snow, Melody Anne, Geneva Lee, Layla Hagen, Whitney G., Linda Jones & Linda Howard, and Brenda Novak.

About the book:

Kyle, one of the alpha men of Walker Security, is hot, bothered, and intense, and when Myla lands in his line of fire, she'll soon learn her secrets - and her passion - belong to him. From New York Times best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones.

Myla is beautiful, a dove with clipped wings, captive of the wolf, a vicious drug lord. One look into her eyes and Kyle could see the pain, the fear...the desperation. Or so it seems. He's been fooled before by a woman, and it cost him everything and everyone he loved. He won't be fooled again.

Cartel vs Body Guard

Kyle works for Walker Security. He's a sexy 6 foot plus alpha male that has been looking for Cara's sister Myla for over a year. Myla has been considered dead, but she's really the victim of a drug lords plot to use her and her skills for human trafficing and money laundering. When Kyle is hired to be a body guard for Myla he had no idea she was alive. Now Kyle and Myla have to work to get Myla out of the drug lords clutches and safe the girls that have been sold into slavery at the same time.
The narration is good, and I enjoyed the story. I still enjoyed Ella's story in Whispered more, but this one was ok too.

Better

The books seem to be improving as the series progresses. I wasn't super impressed with the preceding 3 Walker brothers books, but they were still worth reading for context. This book is better because there's less of the repetitive internal monologues going on. Similar to the other books there's the instant connection, but at least in this one they seem to talk it out a bit more. I thought it was a bit implausible that they'd take the risk of sleeping together when there was so much at stake. Also considering everything Myla had been through and was still going through, they really could have waited. Other than that the ending was a bit rushed, but it was still a good story.

Cartel crime story with bodyguard romance

The premise was interesting. The characters had a certain amount of depth but I wasn't a huge fan of the writing overall. I admit to getting frustrated with the repetition in the couple discussions and fast-forwarding several times.

Narration was great, though.

Trust

This is a great romantic suspense that kept me on the edge waiting for the worst. I liked the chemistry between theses two and how they understood each other so easily.

Well narrated

I liked both narrators and also the story and the main characters. I have issues with flow, writing and editing.
Nice story and likable main characters but I’m a tad disappointed by the quality of writing and the ending feels rushed. The main bad guy is very one dimensional, too.

Wonderful!!!

Everything is wonderful. The story was fabulous and the performance was just as good! I listened to this story two full times and enjoyed it just as much both times. I love the Walker Security team and the Walker family. I have read the Rick Savage Trilogy and loved it (had to wait for part two and part three which about killed me!). On to the next Walker story.

Edge of my seat!

I was transfixed with my first book by Lisa Renee Jones. I love romantic suspense and this was a good one! Kyle and Myla's connection was unmistakeable and their chemistry was hot. The story flowed well and I haven't read any of the other books, but I didn't feel lost from the characters. If anything it made me want to know this group more. The writing was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to see more of the kingpin and how he interacted with Myla and I thought the ending was kind of abrupt, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. Good read!

I thought the narrators did a great job bringing this world to life. They added a lot to the story!

A truly enjoyable read. Romance and intrigue, a wonderful combination! Lisa Renee Jones once again builds interesting, striking characters into a world of drama and intrigue that the reader is drawn into and wont want to leave.

Kidnapped sister Myla gets help rescuing herself

This story is set up in the previous book when Walker brother Blake goes looking for revenge and finds a wife. His wife Cara though is missing a sister who has been kidnapped by a sex trafficking drug lord. This book is about Myla and Kyle, one of the Walker agents who’s mission has been to locate her and help bring her home. Not sure how they so easily got rid of surveillance with only a minor skirmish but that allows the conversation, flirting, plotting and inevitable sex to happen between the hero and heroine/victim. There is a HEA for these two and no cliffhanger but the book takes a while to get moving. The narration is better because it is a dual though a duet performance would have been even better but baby steps.
