Summary

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff - you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out - for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the listener's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter - the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent - as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why you need this book (You know why)
  • Your unique home
  • Decluttering in the midst of real life
  • Change your mind, change your home
  • Breaking through your decluttering delusions
  • Working it out room by room
  • Helping others declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

First book that someone has actually lived and thought like i do!💯👍🏽

I haven’t even finished this book and i had to review! This is the first book where i have found that the person understands PROPERLY and she thought the same way i do and I know that this book is going to change the way I think DEFO! She understands about having SO much stuff and how we keep things “just incase “ we might need it one day and thats how you end up overwhelmed with SO much stuff! This woman is the BEST! She has properly lived with too much stuff and felt overwhelmed, she helps you understand why and how you have got to a point of not knowing where to start, she is by far the best help out there! She has actually lived with a complete guddle, i relate to everything she says!!!!😱😣if you don’t know where to start, hoard and buy too much then this is the book to help you! 💯💯💯👏🏽brilliant book! Thank you Dana!👏🏽🙌🏽♥️ X

Fantastic, fun and REALLY DOABLE!

I love this woman lol, it’s like she has read my mind. Decluttering my hoarding nature is hard, but it’s given me some tools to spur me on and have a strategy until I’ve reached my purge happiness :) thanks Dana.
I totally get that no one else can help me and why I hold onto “duh ..stuff” ,the saving for eBay, made me laugh out more and give myself a reality check! I have too much stuff for my containers and I will declutter at the speed of my life...I just didn’t know where to start so thank you xxx
Read In an extremely entertaining way and full of internal chuckles when she identifies parts of you, you thought only you could think!
Loved it 5*****

Amazing!

I loved this audiobook! My house wasn't over run with clutter but it was above my clutter threshold. I loved listening to this book and decluttering at the same time. Fantastic!

Thankyou

I can’t thank or recommend this book enough. I was living in a complete mess no idea where to start in order to try and get it under control. And every time I did a little bit it just went back in a few weeks. This book has helped me go through my flat in 7 weeks and almost have it right and most importantly once I have done an area I know how to keep on top of it. If you are a naturally messy person this book is for you. I would read this book then her next one as this one is getting the stuff out the next Is actually managing it Thankyou so much Dana.

Moral support!

I love this book. I’ve read so many on this subject. It’s a really nice approach which is basically like having a lot of moral support from a really good friend. It’s funny too. There is a real emphasis on simplicity; just get it out. She supports you through feelings of guilt and responsibility. She really eliminated the paralysis for me when I was overwhelmed with how to downsize. Her principle of tidying the places in your line of vision first is so useful and helps to maintain motivation and momentum. Thank you so much Dana - great narration too! 🌸🌸🌸

my house is tidy - my cupboards overflowing

Lots of repetition of the messages and methods for decluttering, which is actually good as I'm finding myself repeating them as I go through my cupboards and drawers. Why on earth did I think I needed two can openers and 4 knife sharpeners and so on?

We're considering downsizing in the next couple of years, and this will certainly make me focus on what I genuinely need to take into a smaller space and ensure that I don't pay to transport 'stuff' that I won't need and would end up donating to charity ultimately anyway!

I found it really helpful even though I don't believe myself to be the worst clutter person on the planet, and I enjoyed the narration by the author, and will make sure my husband reads it too especially as areas of the garage are inaccessible !

Would recommend it, even if the message gets a little repetitive!

Thank you for helping me with my decluttering.

I have listened to the podcasts etc. But listening to the book in detail has helped me to make greater progress. I bought a set of 6 dining room chairs of Facebook. But only have a table for four. Finally managed to let go of the 2 extra chairs. It’s so much easier to mop my floor.
