Arriving at the port of New York in 1882, a 27-year-old Oscar Wilde quipped he had "nothing to declare but my genius." But as this sparkling narrative reveals, Wilde was, rarely for him, underselling himself. A chronicle of his sensational eleven-month speaking tour of America, Declaring His Genius offers an indelible portrait of both Oscar Wilde and the Gilded Age. Neither Wilde nor America would ever be the same.

The book itself is OK. It's a little lacking in depth. The performance is not at all good. It's dreadfully lightweight and un-engaging. The actor is not a good orator and has trouble with phrases and words she is unfamiliar with, which I would have expected to be researched and pronounced properly ... Pre-Raphaelite is just one example. All in all it's just about worth a listen but it could have been so much better produced. Sadly there is no alternative, this is the only version of the audio book available.
