Summary
Nico
My dreams haunt me. I feel as if I am falling into a pit of impending doom, but even that has not prepared me for the roller-coaster of emotions that flood over me when I'm near Phoenix. I have to keep my distance from her. I need to. It's the only thing I can do to keep from getting hurt again. Staying away from her proves to be a much harder task than I could have ever imagined. She's not only my assistant, but she's half my age. She gets under my skin and irritates the shit out of me, yet one smile, one laugh, and I'm melting into a puddle at her feet. Falling in love with her is a bad idea, a very bad idea, because she just may be the one person who breaks my heart for good this time.
Phoenix
Nico is my boss. He's demanding, bitter, brooding, and a downright bully at times. But, all that doesn't deter me from him at all. I can see the kindness and compassion in his eyes. I know the secret he's keeping from everyone and why he's so guarded with his heart. I don't care about his secret, nor do I care that he's twice my age. What matters is the undeniable attraction we feel for each other. If only he can just let go of the past and see what's right in front of him.
Author's note: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

Any additional comments?
I completely enjoyed listening this audio book, every little detail, every little movement described in the book greatly adds to the impact of reading this, making it hard to put the book down. When you read this plan on having the time, because you won't be able to put it down once you start.

I was pleasantly surprised:)
This story really took me by surprise as I assumed it was a typical cookie cutter romance but actually ended up being a May/December, Boss/Employee, Rich/Poor story instead. So a genre for everyone.
The narrators did an awesome job with the dual POV and they really added a lot to the reading - A+.
*Spoilers*
My only critique is at one point the hero slipped into a classic alpha male short-sidedness where he only hears what he wants and only sees what he wants; which has consequences until someone points out he's being an @ss and he discovers the truth on his own rather than listen to reason. He than realizes the error of his ways and begs for forgiveness. It's the classic misunderstanding in many books and could have been solved if the characters just talked but that doesn't always create the conflict for the story to move forward, so I get it but it just seemed really out of left field for this hero.
It's a bit cliche and to be honest it actually threw up some red flags for me. I was like "gurl - run now!"
Otherwise I really enjoyed the story and the epilogue. I love ne an HEA!

Stubborn meets stubborn and both win
I absolutely loved this audiobook. Nico owns his own company and has been in a downward spiral emotionally for the last 3 years since his wife died. His best friend Gio decides Nico needs an assistant so he hires Phoenix and the fun begins. She is a fiery redhead that doesn't take any sass from anyone including her new boss. She is just what Nico needs in his life it just takes a little convincing to get there. There is mystery, heartache, love, and humor in this book and I enjoyed all of it. The narrator's Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott did a great job telling their story and bringing the characters to life. I love listening to this pair and especially the fact they both speak throughout the entire book so he does all the male voices and she does all the female. My favorite kind of listen.
I received a code to listen and review with my honest opinion. I loved it and highly recommend it.

Hard headed boss/ and the assistant who challenges him
Decadent Dreams what can I say but I loved this story.
Nicole Garcia, you picked two superb narrators in Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott, they nailed these characters. The try as she might assistant Phoenix, who no matter how hard she tried couldn’t please her hard headed boss Nico. Nico who kept trying to find fault with Phoenix and was constantly having to apologize for his own shortcomings, and then we have Nico’s growing attraction for Phoenix along with hers for him. Most of all I enjoyed Geo, he was the one who kept Nico in check, Phoenix sane, and was a laugh a minute with his wit and devil may care attitude.
Put them all together and Decadent Dream was decadent.

Wouldn't have give Nico the same number of chances
Nico has lost his wife and has felt emotionally drained. He feels fate has cursed him to live a life as a solitary single person. This makes Nico not only extremely envious of others that have what he wants, but severely grumpy. As the boss he is having a difficult time delegating work or even trusting others to do even the simplest of tasks. His best friend hires him an assistant to help him to alleviate some stress. Enter Phoenix. A petite sassy, tell it like it is, take no prisoners in a verbal sparing match...that is half his age....and Nico wants her. The problem is, he has too much emotional baggage and yet he doesn't want anyone else to have her either.
Nico's blunt, demanding, bitter, and brooding, attitude pushes Phoenix away and she calls him on his behavior. Even though he acts like a bullly at times she can't get past her empathy for him.
Phoenix is definitely a better person than me for all the crap she puts up with and the number of chances she gives Nico.

Awful book - ignore all those 5 star reviews
I thought I’d give this book a go because although it doesn’t have many ratings on Audible or Goodreads, the ones it has are mostly 5 stars so it must be good, right? Wrong.
So I was going to rate this 2 stars because:
-The narration style doesn’t work and it distracts from the story and means you can’t get into it. You never believe in or feel for the characters because of this.
-I kept getting bored and wanting to stop listening or do something else.
-The characters kept being a bit annoying.
-Way too much detail about really unimportant activities included which makes the book drag and slows the pace.
But then the book went on...
-Bad sex scenes that just weren’t sexy.
-Man child having tantrums. Repeatedly.
-Weepy woman who acts like a teenager.
-Predictable plot.
-Pantomime characters.
-The relationship never seemed to grow so I reckon they will need a counsellor.
-My feeling of annoyance and frustration about so many issues grew and grew as the story went on and I was begging for it to finish.
...so it has to be lower than two stars because it got even worse. So I’ve given it 1 star. Ouch! Returning this book and hoping to never think about it again. It’s pretty forgettable so that should be doable.
