Özet

An exciting new urban fantasy series by national best-selling author Devon Monk.

Monsters, gods, and mayhem....

Police Chief Delaney Reed can handle the Valkyries, werewolves, gill-men, and other paranormal creatures who call the small beach town of Ordinary, Oregon, their home. It’s the vacationing gods who keep her up at night.

With the famous rhubarb festival right around the corner, small-town tensions, tempers, and godly tantrums are at an all-time high. The last thing Delaney needs is her ex-boyfriend reappearing just when she's finally caught the attention of Ryder Bailey, the one man she should never love.

No, scratch that. The actual last thing she needs is a dead body washing ashore, especially since the dead body is a god.

Catching a murderer, wrestling a god power, and rescheduling the apocalypse? Just another day on the job in Ordinary. Falling in love with her childhood friend while trying to keep the secrets of her town secret? That’s going to take some work.

En alakalı
A fairly novel supernatural concept and a detective story as well. Sadly our detective is fairly obtuse and doesn’t so much work things out as stumble across culprits who explain themselves. There’s a lot of small town shenanigans and while the narrator does a decent job, someone brighter, with more comedic edge may have made things more engaging. The pacing is slow and there’s a lot of brooding over her ex and her current crush which gets a bit dull, I found myself tuning out and coming back to find I hadn’t missed much.

Just okay

I tried this after it popped up as a suggestion. I'm so glad I did, it's right up my street. Magic, crime, paranormal, gods, you name it and it seems to be here, even a rhubarb festival. Fantastic!

I'm off to see what's next...

Really enjoyed this

I’ve read and enjoyed this series many times on Kindle and am now enjoying Khristine Hvam’s brilliant narration. KH brings all the characters and their foibles to life so that you forget that it’s a single person narrating the story - the mark of a great voice actor.

An Ordinary town with ordinary people (plus holidaying deities, and other folk)
