Summary

When Sergeant Jay Lucas was snatched away from his family farm by a diabolical sentient spaceship, he thought his life was over. But when his AI captor pumps Jay full of an insanely powerful liquid metal armor, he soon discovers the kidnapping was only the beginning of his trials.

As the bloodthirsty AI trains Jay to harvest souls and increase the duo’s power, Jay learns there is a whole universe of bad guys who need killing. And when Jay’s unwavering moral compass puts him at odds with the plans of an alien mercenary company, he’s soon on the run with a gorgeous space princess.

Urged to harvest souls by his AI partner, Jay must learn to put his awesome powers to work for the good guys. The universe just got a whole lot more dangerous, and a hell of a lot more fun.

There are no words

Absolutely brilliant, and I’m gutted the next book isn’t available on audible yet as I’d be listening to it right now if it was. A great book that has now convinced me to buy the next as soon as it comes out! Seriously if you haven’t listened to this what’s your excuse? Give it a go! Now!

Got better as it went along

Got better as it went along and the characters developed nicely, but I’d like to see a bit more of the history. Where did the death ship come from, what is its purpose. The lead character is too accepting he doesn’t ask any questions. You’d think if an alien ship abducted you from Earth you’d ask where it came from and what it’s purpose was. Are there anymore out there etc. But for all that it’s enjoyable and I’m looking forward to book 2 :-)

a refreshing break from litrpg

I have listened to a lot of sci-fi and fantasy books, specifically litrpgs. I love them but to be honest the same typical tropes appear over and over again to the point of deja vu. I really enjoyed Michael-Scott Earle's book because it break the mold of focusing on video game realities and game stats. Instead Death ship does an amazing job of blending good old ground-pound action with the bare minimum of litrpg elements. the MC still "levels up" in a manner of speaking but the book really focuses on the humanity and realism of the story. Yea, the MC is a total badass but he didnt feel overpowered or holier then thou which felt refreshing. Luke daniels did an awesome job narrating and his voice meshed perfectly with my imagination

ME, another great listen

I really like the story, I can't wait for the next book. This book has a little of everything. The performance by Luke was not bad at all.

Awesome!

What an amazing adventure. I really enjoyed the book and I crave the sequel. this tale has a few twists and turns and I think any sci-fi fan with a fun-loving heart will love it as much as I did. I could not stop listening I really do love MSE and Luke Daniels.

quite enjoyful

The two main characters made for an entertaining duo. aggression between each other makes for somewhat of a buddy cop/sci first fantasy adventure.

Awesome

One of the best, funniest books I've listened to. It's probably not a book someone who takes themselves to serious will enjoy, but if your not an "asshole", you'll like it.
