Story
Some cases hit close to the bone. For amateur sleuth Sabrina Carlson, this is one of them. In Sabrina's mind, missing-persons investigations are always the hardest. Mostly because they remind her of losing her sister years before. If fighting off flashbacks of her sister's death isn't bad enough, this current case is one of the most difficult of Sabrina's career. After all, Claire Blakely didn't just disappear without a trace. She also didn't have any enemies. In addition, as far as Sabrina can tell, there are no leads to work with.

Story
This new volume in the Bodies from the Library series features the work of 16 prolific authors who, like Christie and Crofts, saw their popularity soar during the golden age. Aside from novels, they all wrote short fiction - stories, serials and plays - and although most of them have been collected in books over the last 100 years, here are the ones that got away.

Story
Montalbano's First Case and Other Stories is a brilliant collection of short stories, personally chosen by Andrea Camilleri, following Inspector Montalbano from his very first case in Vigàta, in which he stumbles upon a young girl lurking outside a courthouse with a pistol in her handbag. When she is taken in for questioning and won't utter a single word, Montalbano must find another way to learn whom she is trying to kill and why.... Other cases include a missing woman who has run away from the love of her life, an old married couple who appear to be rehearsing their suicides and a crime so dark there's only one person the inspector can call for help.

Summary
Who knew death could be so eclectic?
Relish this mesmerizing murder mystery mash-up of short stories.
Murder and mystery have been the staple of literature and films for years. This anthology of short stories will thrill and entertain you. Some will also make you laugh out loud. Others will stop and make you think.
Think of this murder mystery short story anthology as an audiobook version of appetizers or starters, hors d'oeuvre, meze, or antipasti. It can be enjoyed as fillers between books or, as is the case in some countries, as a bookish meze - in its own right.
There’s murder mystery styles and locations to suit all tastes: detective fiction, serial killers, scifi, histfic, England, Los Angeles, San Francisco, the Great Lakes, Las Vegas, the Nevada desert, Mexico, and more in an exquisite exposition of the art of short story telling.
These stories come from an international cast of authors: some with best-selling books, others emerging or new talents. Their roots, cultures, and life experiences are as diverse as their writing styles.
But one thing binds them together: They know how to tell a story.
The 10 authors who have contributed to the anthology are:
Stephen Bentley
Greg Alldredge
Kelly Artieri
Robbie Cheadle
Michael Spinelli
L. Lee Kane
Kay Castaneda
Aly Locatelli
Justin Bauer
Posthumously by "G"
The stories include the 2019 SIA Award-winning murder mystery short story "The Rose Slayer" by Stephen Bentley.
Each author introduces his or her stories and the theme that lays behind them. By the time you finish the audiobook, you will agree the result is a mesmerizing murder mystery mash-up.

Another well-written story from a very good author
Death Among Us: An Anthology of Murder Mystery Short Stories, my third highly enjoyable read from author Stephen Bentley, An author I'd not heard of before getting the opportunity to read & review these books! December seemed to be my month for new authors, January continued the trend, and now February. An enjoyable, well-written collection. I’m not big on short stories but this collection has given me some more interesting new authors to research & potentially read. Ralph Scott & Kendra Murray’s narration adds greatly to a good book's enjoyment. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I own 8 other books by this author and look forward to reading more from this him. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A fun mix of murders, characters and locations.
The narrators, Ralph Scott and Kendra Murray, did an excellent job performing this book. I especially enjoyed the voice of Ralph. He reminded me, at times, of Rod Sterling of the Twilight Zone and sometimes Sergeant Friday of Dragnet. (Guess that dates me.) Because of that, I expected there to be more of a twist at the end of these short stories. I felt let down and cheated that they were over so soon! It was very fun to have such a mix of murders, gore, characters and locations. I plan to hang on to this Audiobook and listen to the stories more individually and ponder over them. I had to listen to the whole book so I could leave this voluntary review.
