Story
Just my luck - my new next door neighbor is a unicorn. Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because - get this - he's a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he's a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

Story
My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar - also known as me. I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did. I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits. Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait. See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term. Until it was too late.

Short but so sweet
What a fun short story. This book follows Jase Connors, a rockstar, who returns home to attend the memorial for his teacher. I really liked Jase- he was written as a great person, even though he was a bit of a playboy. I loved his family oriented personality. He and Cami were best friends when they were younger but then lost touch. They were reacquainted when he returned and I loved their interaction. Overall, a great short story. The audiobook was great. Tim Paige was the primary narrator and Kelsey had a cameo. But Tim is excellent, playing multiple characters easily and believably. I loved the narration, which elevated the story. 🎧AudiobookObsession, AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Second chance friends to lovers
What a cool concept. Write a letter to your future self while you are in high school. I loved the characters. Jase is from the book “Starfish”, he was the lead singer of the band, Kings Quarters. Cami was his best friend in school until he decided he needed to change himself. HEA. Standalone. Love the narration, Tim and Kelsey are amazing! I definitely recommend this book!

Fun, sweet listen! All the feels
Jase - the lead singer of King's Quarters (who we met in Starfish) get a call that his favorite high school teacher has passed away and he's been named in the will. Upon returning he reconnects with his childhood best friend Cami. Only problem is...Cami isn't too happy to see Jase. The sparks fly but sometimes they are too hot. This second chance romance novella was a perfect follow up to Starfish. Their favorite high school teacher had each of his students write a letter to their future selfs and this is the premise of the story. Has Jase fulfilled his dreams? Has Cami? And since their falling out are they able to reconnect as their favorite teacher always wanted them to? He was a smart man who made it hard for them to NOT deal with their unfinished business, which led to some ups and down and some cold and HOT moments! This is a quick, fun, short listen that offers all the feels. Narration by Tim Paige and the epilogue by Kelsey Navarro brought the story to life for me.

Short and Sweet
I love second chance romance, it’s one of my favourite trope. This is my second listen from Ms. Becker straight after I finished the first book Starfish. I loved Starfish and wanted to know Jason’s story. This book did not disappoint. Dear future self is cleverly written by Ms. Becker and I enjoyed this story a lot. Tim Paige did a great a job. The Epilogue narrated by Kelsey Navarro was just the perfect way to end the book. I would definitely recommend listening to this novella.

Great narration
I started this one with super high expectations because I really loved Starfish. Dear Future Self was really good for a novella and it was great to revisit the Starfish characters, however it was still a novella with a much less time to develop the story. The main characters did have a history to build on, but it still came across as more of an insta-love feeling. Tim Paige was a new-to-me narrator and he did a great job. Kelsey Navarro had a short part and she's one of my favorite narrators so it was fun to hear her voice. I would definitely recommend the audio version. #AudiobookObsession

A sweet quickie...
I'm not always convinced by short stories as feel that you lose the description and build which are possible with a longer book. But this I didn't feel at all. I actually chose the book for it's short length as wanted to listen to a quick story and even though this is the second book in a series (And oddly I have book 1 which I haven't yet got to) I didn't feel I had missed anything. I found the narration was really well done, though did question my sanity at the end as swore it had only listened to Tim Paige throughout! Haha!

Very cute & sweet novella. While this can be a standalone, I think you should listen to Starfish first so you can get to know Jase better. I really enjoy second chance romance and Jase & Cami's relationship has that long lost love feeling from the beginning of this novella. I have to say, this book shows Jase's sweet & humble side for sure and I love that he worries about taking the spotlight away from others or people knowing he is behind any good deeds. To me that just makes him ever more likable. The narration was great. The book is almost all Jase's POV so Tim Paige narrates most of the book and he does a good job. Kelsey Navarro only does a very small part but she was great!

Quick and Fun Novella!
Overll 4 stars Narration 4.5 stars Story 4 stars This was a quick and fun novella featuring Jason (Jace) from Starfish. I really loved the premise of the "Dear Future Self" letters and how they played into Jason's return home. Things move very fast between Cami and Jason, but it worked since they had been childhood best friends and the foundation was already there. I do wish there would have been a few more scenes of them getting to know each other again as adults though. There wasn't a ton of drama and the ending really was perfect. I really enjoyed the narration by Tim Paige. He's a newer to me narrator, but I thought he balanced Jason's playful and bolder sides very well. Kelsey Navarro only narrated one chapter, but she complemented Tim Paige well. I wish that Cami would have had more chapters, so we could have gotten a better glimpse of things from her point of view. Overall, Dear Future Self was a fun trip back to the Starfish world!

Very sweet Novella that I highly recommend!
Jace & Cami had been friends in high school. Jace left town & became a famous rockstar. He left every thing behind when he moved to Los Angeles. The death of his high school music teacher brought him back home. Could Jace coming home change everything for him? Not if his manager, Damon has anything to say about it. Loved this sweet friends to lovers story! Highly recommend! Tim Paige did an amazing job narrating & loved Kesley Navarro's chapter as well.

Coming home
Fantastic novella and left me wanting so much more of Jason and Cami. This is book two in the Starfish series and in book one Jase aka Jason is a big time player. A different woman at each concert venue. Two of his bandmates from Kings Quarters have found happiness and settled down but that isn't in the cards for him right now. He has went out as a solo artist and doing great but he pressure is real so when he gets a call to come home he welcomes the break. Cami can't believe she is setting here across from Jason, aka Jase, after all these years. They were best friends a lifetime ago and now he is famous. She has some heartbreak to mend from him from their teenage years and not sure it is worth the effort. This is a great story of old friends that lost touch but never lost the feelings they had for one another. It also shows us how the party boy Jase does have a heart and just want that one woman that loves the real him and not the famous version of him. Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro do a great job. I loved listening to this book, my only complaint is I wanted more. It's such a great story. 🎧AudiobookObsession🎧 I received a code from Audiobook Obsession to listen and review with my honest opinion. 5 stars for me. Loved it and recommend it. It is a stand alone so you don't have to listen/read book one, but it is great and I recommend it as well.

Music is at the center of the story
I loved going back to the Starfish universe, this time following Jase/Jason after the Kings Quarters disbanded. All the band’s members were interesting, so of course I wanted to see more of them. This time, we get a second chance romance, with a touch of small town and friends to lovers–though they kind of start as enemies. Music is at the center of the story, and the link between Cami and Jason even after so many years. They reconnected too fast for my taste, and I’ve had liked for Jason to grovel a bit much. But the idea of the teacher reuniting them after his death, and the letters he made the kids write, were both adorable. Narration was very good, and I enjoyed the last chapter from Cami’s POV, performed by a female narrator. It was a sweet conclusion to a sweet story.

A Cute, Short Listen
I'm a greedy reader, so I'm not normally drawn to novellas. However, I loved Starfish and wanted to spend some more time in that world. Because I was already familiar with the world, I was instantly sucked in on this story. I really like friends-to-lovers, and this childhood friends-to-lovers with a dash of missed opportunity story was really good! The fast pace was okay, because they had a long history with an interesting backstory. Both characters were interesting, and likable. The angst was low, and the narration was great. This made for the perfect listen on a busy afternoon. #AudiobookObsessionReview

4.5 Stars for all
This was the first book I've read/listened to by Lisa Becker. It was short and sweet. Not many novellas work well, but this is one of the exceptions. The fact that they were childhood friends helped it flow well. I hope to go back and get the first book to get to know Jason better. Jason and Clara had a great story. Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro were wonderful narrators! We didn't get much of Kelsey Navarro, but she always performs well, and Tim Paige was a new to me narrator that has a smooth voice that was perfect for the character. Great performances! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
