The twenty-eighth novel in the bestselling Alex Cross series

A scandalous double homicide opens the psychological case files on Alex Cross...

When a glamorous socialite and a high school principal are found murdered, the shocking double homicide dominates tabloid headlines.

Detective Alex Cross knew both victims well, especially Kay who had been his patient once. And maybe more.

Alex's former Metro Homicide Partner tracks the slain principal's final movements to Alabama where Alex investigates Kay's past. They discover that although she had many enemies, all of them needed her alive.

The more the investigators push, the more resistance they find, and Alex is left facing a desperate choice between breaking trust and losing his way.

I’ve been a fan of James Patterson for years, in particular the Alex Cross novels and this one was a decent listen except they’ve changed the narrator to another person from the previous books which made it more difficult to remain engrossed in the regular stories of Alex Cross.
Small mispronounciations throughout the audiobook take away the feeling of it and it’s as if the narrator isn’t familiar with the characters - I mean who the f*ck is Janey?? She will always be Jannie or Janelle to more avid readers/listeners.

The story is decent enough and you can feel heartbreak through one of the longest serving characters’ arc in the story but I think they need to go back to the Andre Blake to keep listeners coming back for more.

Who the f*ck is Janey??

It’s a good book but the repeated twisting conspiracies seem a stretch even for this series of books

Alex Cross not quite back to his best

Takes me back to some storylines in the first Alex Cross novels. A thrilling story, a page turner! More of this please.

I liked the beginning of the story however unfortunately the voice was too deep and found it hard to understand or even understand the story. I had to miss this book and move on to the next one.
