Drew is the Stephen King of fantasy

This generation's Harry potter

Fred constantly provides more interesting topics about it's universe with each chapter, it brings me back to first reading and growing with Harry potter and waiting eagerly for the next book to find out more about the universe and magic spells and creatures

Fred captures this feeling perfectly using the same formula of having the main character discover things at the same rate as the reader and it has also mastered the art of keeping the reader invested, there have been moments in this series in which I got genuinely excited as something unfolded and then said "yes!" in a burst of joy once my assumptions came to fruition

on the audio department this series is no slouch either, with very well delivered dialogue and distinct voices punctuating each character despite there only being one narrator. I will always remember showing Gideon's voice to a friend who had read the book and having them simply say "yes."

on the note of different voices, in this specific book there were a few mistakes, two if I remember correctly, in which the voice for the character was dropped mid sentence, it was definetly not a deal breaker but it was a bit distracting, I mostly blame that on the likely need for multiple takes/needing a break and returning to reading

overall it's a very good book and a great narration, and I full heartedly recommend it

I just LOVE Fred!

I have loved all of theses books and I cannot recommend them enough. I just think that the 'House of Fred' would be such a wonderful thing to be part of. I love that Drew Hayes has taken one of the most ordinary and relatively boring jobs and thrown this ordinary decent chap into a world that is so much more than boring. The characters are incredibly endearing and Fred is beautifully read by Kirby Heyborne. This would be a great, quick read for anyone who likes a light-hearted read with a fun and entertaining mix of humour and adventure. More please Drew!

Accountancy... its a dangerous occupation if your 1st name’s Fred!!

I have to admit when I first started listening to Fred’s stories read by Kirby Heybourne I hated them! I found his style very boring almost like listening to an accountant reading the book and that’s when I realised I’d hit pure gold!!! Kirby IS Fred, the cadence that he reads Fred’s parts with is exactly how you would expect someone who was an actuary to sound.
Each book is filled with crazy (Fred calls them lunatics but I won’t) characters and with each additional book you gain more insight into the how, what and why that makes them who they are so that your ‘Fredverse’ expands.
I won’t explain the books other than to say if you are looking for something that is different, filled with humour and won’t give you nightmares after listening then these are the books for you! (You Just have to get past the first 20 minutes of the very first book to get used to the reading style)

A good entry in the series.

If you enjoyed the other books in the series before this one then you should enjoy this one too.
