Summary

When unsolved crimes resurface, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace faces a possible copycat killing in Dead Like You, by award winning crime author Peter James.

The Metropole Hotel, Brighton. After a heady New Year's Eve ball, a woman is attacked as she returns to her room. A week later, another woman is assaulted. Both victims' shoes are taken by the offender...

Roy Grace soon realizes that these new cases bear remarkable similarities to an unsolved series of crimes in the city back in 1997. Dubbed 'Shoe Man', the perpetrator was believed to have attacked five women before murdering his sixth victim and vanishing. Could this be a copycat, or has Shoe Man resurfaced?

When more women are assaulted, Grace and his team find themselves in a desperate race against the clock to identify and save the life of the new sixth victim...

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Dead Like You is the sixth gripping title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Dead Man's Grip and Not Dead Yet.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

GREAT STORY

This was another amazing tale of crime and skullduggery which, as always, is solved by the wonderful Roy Grace. The plot is complex but entirely believable. Whilst the narrator was good I do not feel their voice was best suited to this sort of book.

Brilliant story once again from Peter James

Really enjoyed this book. a bit grisly to listen to in some parts but James' books always keep me hooked to the end.

I'm reading the books in order and like the way all the books have a connection.

Careful which shoes you wear!

Fabulous story from start to finish and wonderfully read by David Buckram. Cannot wait to read the next book.

Same old from Peter James

I'm noticing that Peter James' books afe very samey. Same discripions of charachers wheeled out, same construct / memory eyeball thing, always a character with a learning difficulty, and always a criminal says "Know what I'm saying?". Everybody always addresses Grace as "Detective Superintendant" which is especially clunky in audiobook. Cringe. Female characters are usually moaning and high maintenance or plyable sex kittens. it's getting really tedious.

Author wins over narrator

The Roy Grace series of books are all well written and intriguing. However, the narration on much of this one is just plain boring! At times I struggled to maintain attention on the book. It is a tribute to the author that I succeeded, and gradually 'screened out' the voice.

brilliant book, awful narration.

DL Audiable solely to listen to series. Wooden narration means non extension/subscription. Could have been so good. Wholly disappointed

Good listen

It was a very enjoyable listen. It would probably have been far better to have gone through them in the correct order but I went out of sequence after the first one so it didn't seem to matter after that, as they are complete stories anyway. All in all I would recommend whether you have read any or none of the previous ones in the series.

brilliant & the narrator is excellent

ive listened to all the 'roy grace' books and this one is probably 'one of the best'. though they are all excellent. like the narrator - not always easy to be 'sleazy & pervy'. but this reader manages it very well! well worth a listen. much recommended
