About this listen

One little push is all it takes . . .

Mortuary technician Cassie Raven is shocked to find the body of Bronte, a talented singer on the brink of stardom, in her fridge. The two of them were once schoolmates, although not exactly friends . . .

The police say Bronte jumped from her tenth-floor apartment, but Cassie's instincts are telling her it's murder. The death ignites a social media frenzy, and when police watchdog Phyllida Flyte is sent in to assess the handling of the case she is the only one willing to listen to Cassie.

They join forces but as Cassie delves dangerously deep into Bronte's personal history, more blood must be shed before the terrible truth is exposed.

Good storyline

The storyline was good and held my attention. The narrator did her best, but I personally found the "little girl" voice and the sharp intakes of breath a bit irritating.

Another one I couldn’t switch off.

I really enjoy this series of books. This one had the usual twists & turns. I eagerly look forward to the next one. Can’t help thinking it’s already set up. There must be more of the many layered ‘Streaky’ to come. The narrator is excellent.

I basically like the central character

I enjoyed the writing and the story was well plotted.
The central character was attractively presented and you couldn’t help but like her. All in all it was a good read

Cassie Raven's Growing Up

Great story with a hint of humour. Serious topics brought to light with empathy. Can't wait for the next Book.

Another great novel

Cassie Raven is such a complex character and so is Flyte. Seems inevitable they would be together but no doubt it will be full of contradictions.

Narrator is good but tends to sound flaky and baby girl in parts.

Look forward to the story developments in future

Latest in a great series - well written and narrated. I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Cassie Raven is developing well as a character and the plots are satisfying. The growing connection to Flyte is credible and the relationships between Cassie and the other key characters: Cassie’s grandmother, Archie and her dad are well conceived - engaging and believable. Cassie’s respect for her “clients”is an important aspect of her character.
Without wishing to add a spoiler an important subplot with the DJ is cleverly woven into the main story. It’s quite an achievement to write an engaging and an ungruesome story about a mortuary assistant. Hope Cassie Raven and co appear again.
