Summary

Winter has gone, but the world is no less inhospitable. The survivors of this first winter now face some of the darkest and most soul-wrenching choices thus far. From the outskirts of London to an island refuge in Oregon, small groups struggle to build a new life. Kevin recovers to a realization that shatters his dreams, yet he must stand up and take the role of leader - or die trying. His followers, now largely consisting of juvenile delinquents and society cast-offs, need him. Can he shake loose from his own misery to be their salvation? Billy must decide what sort of life he wants to forge. Has he been following blindly and gone down the wrong path? And has Dr. Zahn finally discovered the mystery of the zombie children?

Another good Dead book

What made the experience of listening to Dead: Darkness Before Dawn the most enjoyable?

The book was good but not top form, started to feel a bit like some was just added for filling rather than story.

Any additional comments?

Please narrator as an English man I have no idea where you get your British accents from please stop they are sooo bad..... Other than that this was another good dead book but i was wondering if the story is running out of ideas. Found it an enjoyable book but lacking any cohesive direction. When top characters were killed before it was wow but how can you keep this up.... wiping out half of a camp of people..... very anti-climatic.
Ended on a cliffhanger of course and will get the next book but hope the story goes on at a bit better pace as this stuttered a bit.

Really enjoyed this book series

I thought this series was really well written, it took on a number of different perspectives and followed a number of groups, which I really liked however after much feedback TW cut down on this which I thought was disappointing, he also re-wrote the first few books following just one group each, these are 'Dead perspectives', 'Dead Vignettes' and 'Dead Geeks' I believe, so if you find lots of groups difficult to keep up with you might prefer these. He decided to keep it to 12 books which is a shame as it felt like there was a lot more these storylines could have given us. TW doesn’t shy away from the horror of what could happen and there is a lot of differences between the groups (which is why I'm unsure what others found so difficult about it, if they were all very similar it would have been confusing and boring but they are very very varied which I loved) but he doesn’t go too far into realms you don’t want to wander into (like the Zombie Fallout series by Tufo). I liked that it followed zombies on occasion too as well as groups of survivors and he wasn't afraid to kill people off when their time was done. FYI typical bad British accents, so nothing new!

I like the spinoffs too, the 'Dead snapshots' are great, I like the attention to detail (the English one was pretty much on point re: lingo and culture) and I'm enjoying the new Dead series.
