One man rises from the stillness, unleashing hell's fury. They call him Blaze.

Dead Calm takes listeners into Blaze’s past as a US Army Ranger. In the harsh Afghan terrain, Captain Axel Blaze faces his toughest mission yet: honoring a dying friend’s plea to rescue his children from the Taliban's clutches.

Blaze infiltrates deep into enemy territory. He finds an ally in CIA Deputy Director Davis, whose daughter, Madison, has been taken hostage. As Blaze and his Rangers wreak hell on the Taliban, they uncover a drugs, arms and sex trafficking network with links to the Bulgarian mafia.

The hunt takes Blaze from the unforgiving Afghan terrain to the back alleys of Sofia, Bulgaria. Powerful people operating with impunity. Until they come in the crosshairs of a man called Blaze.

Thrillers in the lone ranger tradition of Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, and The Gray Man novels. The fast-paced, brutal action in the Blaze series is attracting thriller listeners worldwide.

James Sasser doesn’t overplay Blaze. That restraint makes the emotion and violence feel sharper. The audiobook format works well for this kind of tight, brutal storytelling. A great listen for thriller fans who want grit without drama.

This book is an absolute adrenaline rush from start to finish. If you’re into action-packed thrillers with a hero who doesn’t hold back, Dead Calm will hit the mark. Blaze is everything you want in a lead: relentless, sharp, and just the right amount of brutal. Think Jack Reacher meets Mitch Rapp, but with a darker edge.

The story dives deep into Blaze's past as a US Army Ranger, and Bill Runner doesn’t shy away from the grit. The mission? Rescue his dying friend’s kids from the Taliban while uncovering a massive trafficking network. The stakes are personal and global, and the pacing doesn’t let up. One minute you’re in the unforgiving Afghan mountains, the next you’re knee-deep in the underbelly of Bulgaria’s mafia.

The narration is spot on. The voice gives Blaze the commanding presence you’d expect, with a tone that keeps you locked in for the ride.

This audiobook is perfect for anyone who wants a fast-paced, high-stakes thriller that doesn’t let up. Can’t wait for the next one!

Axel Blaze might just be the coldest, most capable operator since Mitch Rapp. Dead Calm proves it. The firefights are loud and the mission leaves no room for hesitation. If you're into Jack Reacher or The Gray Man, welcome a new name to the elite tier.

This book is pure action entertainment, but some parts felt almost too over-the-top. That said, if you enjoy high-octane, no-holds-barred thrillers, you’ll love it. The narration is fantastic, and the action scenes are gripping. A great audiobook for those who crave nonstop excitement!
