About this listen

From the author of Ultimate Level 1: When a bold teenager discovers a strange egg, he becomes the first human in generations to bond with a dragon.

Kaen is a typical teenage orphan in Ebonmount—toiling in a quarry for his keep as he yearns for adventure far beyond the confines of his laborious existence. But everything changes when he stumbles upon a bronze egg. From its shell emerges Pammon, a dragon, marking Kaen as the first human in generations to bond with such a creature and entwining his destiny with that of the elite adventurers’ guild. Suddenly thrust into a life he’s only dreamed of, Kaen embraces his bond with Pammon and what it truly means to be chosen by fate.

But as he steps onto the path once walked by his late father, the thrill of adventure is overshadowed by his quest for the truth behind the man’s mysterious death. Soon Kaen and Pammon’s journey becomes one fraught with peril, filled with both the promise of discovery and the ever-present risk of loss. Together, they must navigate their bond, the guild’s expectations, and the reality that every flight soars on the wings of danger.

Serving up breathtaking exploits as well as the true heart of a family drama, Dawn of the Last Dragon Rider is perfect for fans of Christopher Paolini and Rick Riordan alike.

You know the kind of story a dragon rider tale tends to be. This one begins with a young boy who dreams of becoming an adventurer in a level-based world of stats and guilds. One day, he stumbles upon a dragon egg, and from that moment on, his destiny changes forever. In a realm that has only two other dragon riders, he is about to become the third—and shape the fate of the entire world. It's pretty good easy to follow it's the kind of book you can have on in the back grond while you do something else you don't need to pay full anthention to the book.

It's a dragon rider story

An ok story bogged down by bad and repetitive writing. Not many Litrpg elements at all but just enough to qualify for the genre.

The relationship amongst characters is one of its highlights as well as its swift, but not too swift pacing. The adventure and combat elements of the story are also one of its better features although it almost never feels as if our protagonist is really fighting for his life.

On the other hand, some conversations, especially those involving flirting, are written as if the writer has never been in a human interaction in their life and uses "winking" between people 5-10+ times per chapter which is unrealistic and childish.

This is not by any means bad fiction and the story is just engaging enough to make me want to find out what happens next. Here's hoping to see the writer grow with experience.

Good enough to keep your attention
