Summary

Wounded and alone, Alana has escaped the clutches of the Tsar. She’s determined to forget his world of conquest and dark magic, but fate has other plans. Alana finds herself face-to-face with her grandmother - the one person she loathes even more than the Tsar himself. With his forces closing in, the two must choose whether to tear each other apart, or work together to defy their common enemy.

Meanwhile, Devon stumbles upon Alana’s brother lost in the forest. Taking the boy under his wing, he learns the Tsar needs both siblings to accomplish his grand ambition: to control all magic. Devon is soon forced to make a stand, but can a mortal warrior truly defy the eternal strength of the Tsar?

Awesome finale to a truly epic fantasy trilogy!

Couldn’t wait to plunge into Dawn of War (the finale of the Legend of the Gods Trilogy) as I really enjoyed Oathbreaker and Shield of Winter. The emotional rollercoaster ride occasioned by the amazing twists and turns of Aaron Hodges storyline continues. He has done a superb job with his world and character-building and has kept a high level of suspense throughout this action-packed epic fantasy. The ending is bitter-sweet – but such is the heartbreak of war even when it is won as it always produces casualties and involves great sacrifice. At least there is hope for a better future for the survivors as they look to rebuild their lives.

Once again, David Stifel does an admirable job with the narration and character voices. Whilst I generally prefer Scottish or Irish accents for the narration of this genre of book, David Stifel has a pleasant voice and it is easy to know which character is speaking from his range of character voices. Audible allows you to pick a narration speed to suit your own particular preference (I like 1.25 for this narrator) so I recommend the use of this feature to find what works best for you.
