Summary

Still struggling from the effects of dating a narcissist?

Many people do and sadly there is very little information available to be found online or in the written research, or with counselors and therapists that can help. Narcissistic victim syndrome is not officially recognized, nor is it widely even known.

Even when it is accepted, recognized and known not many people seem to know what to do about it to heal it… The fact is being in a relationship with a narcissist over a long period of time has long lasting traumatic effects that can be extremely catastrophic to the person suffering them.

Do the following symptoms sound familiar?

  • Ruined self confidence
  • Doubting yourself and your sanity
  • Mood swings
  • Sleeplessness
  • Extreme weight loss or weight gain
  • Uncharacteristic jealousy/ insecurity
  • Feeling like you don’t know the difference between right and wrong
  • Extreme paranoia (being turned into an obsessive detective)
  • Endless, repetitive obsessive thinking about your ex
  • Constantly trying to find explanations for what has happened
  • Feelings of helplessness and despair
  • A desire to self isolate
  • Feeling desperately misunderstood
  • Overwhelming feelings of loss and grief
  • Extreme bouts of rage
  • An inability to be comfortable with yourself
  • Strange dreams
  • Sudden inexplicable anxiety followed by rapid dips into depression

The list goes on....

You are dating a narcissist, and if you haven’t figured it out already, they will never, ever change.

You can stay in the relationship and be unhappy, or you can choose to never date a narcissist again. It is not easy, I know. Because I have been there. I was you.

They are smart enough to know what you are looking for at the level of your core values and mold themselves to appear to represent that whilst provoking as much sympathy in you for them as they can.

But beneath the mask of a shy, vulnerable and “good person” something far more sinister lurks.

  • A social chameleon who would wear a completely different identity depending on who they were talking to
  • A sneaky, underhanded way of operating in the world that only those closest to them ever get a glimpse of
  • A person whose actions rarely match their words

“They seemed so good-hearted and vulnerable, I just wanted to help…”
“Maybe my ex is right, maybe it really is me….”
Am I just being paranoid?
“Nobody understands!”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients tearfully admit this to me in state of absolute despair.

What you need now:

  • Someone who has been through the same experiences you have and understands them from the inside
  • Someone who has the knowledge, training, education and experience working on himself and others to lead you through the emotional sh*tstorm that breaking with a narcissist can create

I can’t promise you that listening to this book is going to be a “total cure”, but I can promise that if you apply yourself diligently, take notes, listen and re-listen to the chapters, follow all instructions to the letter, with a tenacious resolve to get better, you will feel an instant decrease in anxiety within the first 24 hours and should see huge improvements within the first three days.

This is not hype, this is what my audience commonly reports.

A good start

It's a decent look into a very dark personality disorder. Not to heavy to understand for anyone new to narcissistic abuse. I recommend listening for someone trying to make sense of the confusion and overall trauma for having dealt with a narcissist.

honest and hard to hear but worth every minute

I learned I had gone from a covert narcissist to an overt. Very hard to hear but better than me wasting another 18 years in another abusive relationship

Forwarned is forarmed.

Excellent, clear and true to life explanation of what you can expect dealing with narcissists. I felt like the author wrote about situations I encountered earlier in my life. Too bad the book wasn’t available 30 years ago to save me from crummy experiences!! Read it!

Boy! Was this an eye opener. Explained so much. It read exactly like my relationship. EXACTLY. If your confused about why someone you thought loved you left with no explanation this book may help. I recommend it if your dating an a$$hole.

Informative accurate liked

Describes the relationship with a narcissist very well.
Uses a fully narcissist example, but the severity of the disorder vary greatly and often overlap with the other disorders in cluster B. Along with any other issue/s one may have.

A good resource for dealing with a narcissist

This book has a lot of good, solid information, insights, and advice. But it covers a lot of ground and it's organized somewhat randomly, so it takes a good bit of effort to find help with specific issues you may encounter. My advice is to read it all the way through to get a sense of the overall message, and to highlight or put sticky notes on pages that resonate with what you're experiencing. Then you'll basically have your own index of the parts that you really need to pay attention to.

I highly recommend this book.

This book has been the turning point in helping me to move forward after the devastating abuse our family has suffered. It brought me peace I couldn't find anywhere else. I only wish I had read it before our 4 years of hell. This book will help you recognize personality types and make wise choices. It's a must read.
