Good Introduction to the area

This book gives a great introduction to the Data analytics space but has a dim and old world outdated view of IT and how Data and technology teams collaborate.

Very theoretical and not much in the way of practical insights

I bought this hoping to get a practical guide to getting started with data analytics in my organization. Was very disappointed. I found very little in the way of practical advice and case studies

I did not like it.

Maybe it’s just me, but I felt there was far too many fluff/filler sentences that should have been removed by an editor, especially in the first two volumes. That meat, which was slim, was also really vague. The over use of the words “hence” and “thus” grated on my nerves. Normally, I would not have finished this book, but I downloaded it before a long flight.

If you disregard this warning, could you please count the number of times thus and hence were used and let me know?

Good listen.

Big Data Analytics largely involves collecting data from different sources, munged it in a way that it becomes available to be consumed by analysts and finally deliver data products useful to the organization business. The process of converting large amounts of unstructured raw data, retrieved from different sources to a data product useful for organizations forms the core of Big Data Analytics.
