Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Darkest Truth by Catherine Kirwan, read by Eileen Walsh.
A predatory film director will do anything to protect his secrets. But those who want justice will stop at nothing.
A #MeToo thriller about a suspicious suicide, a predatory film director, and the woman who'll risk anything to bring him to justice.
It takes only one person to break the silence.
When solicitor Finn Fitzpatrick is approached by a man to investigate the death of his daughter, her first instinct is to refuse.
The father is grieving and unable to accept that his daughter committed suicide. And yet something about the man’s story chimes with Finn.
Why did a bright, confident, beautiful young girl suddenly drop out of school, isolating herself from everyone who cared about her?
Could it be that the father's suspicion is right and that his daughter was groomed and abused by the most famous film director in Ireland? If the story is true, there are bound to be other victims.
The more she investigates, the darker and more twisted the picture becomes.
Soon Finn herself is in danger.
Because these are powerful people she is trying to expose. And they are willing to do anything to protect their secrets.

Brilliant!
Captivating storyline, beautifully written with many layers. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing this story to life, now it just needs the right film maker to bring it to the big screen, this would be a great film.

Narration spoils this
I was so looking forward to listening to this book. The narrator is so boring. She pauses unnecessarily and speaks so slowly, even speeding up the narration doesn't help. The writing is quite poor. Lots of use of the word 'said', 'I said, Ann said' etc. Talented writers would swap that word for questioned, wondered, mused, pondered, challenged etc. I gave up after chapter 8 as my ears were bleeding. I may try reading the print version which will hopefully deserve a higher score.

Brilliant in every sense of the word!
Brilliant in every sense of the word! This is one of the best mysteries I have read in years! It was very well constructed and crafted. The characters were engaging and believable - actually, quite a sad comment when you realize that the villains are too believable. I truly hope this is the beginning of a series so that we will see the "good guys" again! And, as an added plus and rare jewel: the narrator is outstanding. I will be on the lookout for her other works. Thank you to Catherine Kirwan, Eileen Walsh, Penguin, Random House Audio Books and Audible!

Good, not great.
If I could, I'd give this 3.5 stars. The story is interesting--although it verges on melodrama--and decently written. The performance is pretty good. I enjoyed listening to it. I just wasn't enthralled.
