Summary

The most dangerous thing in battle turns out to be a beautiful lady.

Major Lord Felix Knight has always known he was destined for the army and is fiercely loyal to the Crown. Thriving on adventure and danger, there is no room in his life for the love and relationships which have cast their spells over his brothers. After healing from his time as a prisoner of war, he returns to the Peninsula to continue the fight against Napoleon. Despite Felix's vows to the contrary, a beautiful lady causes him to lower his guard and soon he finds himself torn between love for country and woman.

Lady Catalina Mendoza has followed the drum with her father since her mother's death. Men are drawn to her beauty and connections, but without exception, those gentlemen her father deems suitable bore and frustrate her. The only way she can tolerate the tedium is to glean information from her suitors to help her father. One night, she is caught at the game by a devilishly handsome Englishman - and everything changes.

Amidst assaults and danger, Felix and Catalina find themselves thrown together in a bid to discover a traitor before it is too late.

Like the rest of the series, it was good

I keep coming back to this series and author almost purely because of Alex Wyndham's narration... but in fairness, this is a pretty solid series of books and Dark of Knight is no different. However, like all the other stories so far, it is a little bland. Felix and Catalina are pretty typical and neither are annoying, but neither are they standouts. There was a suitable amount of adventure and intrigue to keep me engaged while I cooked and cleaned and did work. Of course I'll return for the next installment... for Alex.

Finally, This is a squeaky clean story that borders on "wholesome" so for readers that are triggered by those sort of undertones, steer clear. For listeners wanting something simple and enjoyable (though the horrors of war are sort of explored here) and don't mind/gravitate towards clean than give this a go! You will probably like and you will probably *love* AW's voice.

Wasn’t that brilliant

This book in this series I found rather dull - it had its moments but overall it was rather dull - sorry to say

But the narrator did a great job
