Summary

Outside of Pakistan, the world's highest concentration of al-Qaeda lurks in Southeast Asia and there, Nick Stone's bosses get wind of an act of terror that will dwarf even the nightmare of 9/11.

When Stone is dispatched to Malaysia by the CIA to assassinate a biochemist, he expects his mission to be a straightforward part of the fight against Bin Laden. But there are complications, not least because he is working alongside an attractive woman whose motives he doesn't fully understand.

Target neutralized, Stone returns to the USA and a maelstrom of personal problems. Kelly, the 14-year-old orphan to whom he is joint guardian, cannot escape the ghosts of her traumatic past; she has a prescription drug habit that's spiralling out of control, and Stone knows he is the only one who can help her. He takes her to recuperate in England, but the terrible consequences of what happened in Penang are never far behind.

Realizing he cannot escape them, Stone unearths a doomsday threat against the populations of New York, London, and Berlin and finds himself facing an unspeakable trade-off: the life of someone he loves, against those of millions he doesn't even know...

Outstanding. ANOTHER M WORD

Any additional comments?

I would like to start this review by saying that: in my opinion Remote Control by A Mcnab (his first in the Stone series) was a masterpiece (see my review) and I would never come across anything better. I was wrong.

Some of the real book worms out there might call me mad for using the M word twice to describe an Andy Mcnab novel. Additionally, and on the contrary, I really couldn't care less.

This book was so shocking, so captivating and constantly gripping, so "keep you on the edge of your seat" ..ing I would be happy to stand up in front of a hundred avid book critics and tell them that for me; it was nothing short of a MASTERPIECE in military/action/adventure sod it any type of book GENRE storytelling.

I usually mention where Stone will have headed around the globe in the book in my reviews, but in this instance I'm saying nothing. You simply have to read this book. Mcnab is the best and here he proves it once again.

This book will have you laughing, crying, catching the air in the back of your throating' more than once. you will be taken on a Nick Stone roller coaster.. the scariest and most intense roller coaster in the reading world. 10/10.

......It's just a masterpiece!

The fork in the road

This book is by far the most intense so far and puts Nick Stone onto a new path. A real edge of the seat story line with exciting but heart wrenching moments. Read perfectly by Paul Thornley.

Tear Jerker

Typical story where Nick needs to save the world from scary people, but with a partner. Introduces a great dynamic and friendship between them. Such a tragic ending. Writing, incite full as ever, griping all the way through. Narration emotive as ever, with voices and characterisation perfect. Can't wait to listen to the next installment.

McNabb at his best.

Andy McNabb has a gift for writing in plane speaking language, while still being able to paint very complex pictures and stories. His attention to detail leaves you in an exciting, stressful, thrilling and surprisingly emotional well of immersion. maybe one to listen to while doing something or passing a day in the garden with a cooler of beer. not really bed time listening, I'm to invested in the plot to possibly sleep listening to Andy's works. Enjoy!

Shame the Berlin geography inaccurate

A good enough story but such a shame that the geography of Berlin and the descriptions of Berlin were so terribly inaccurate.
