Good story, average narration
After going through the Baliss and Calladine series, the change of narrator takes a bit of getting used to. Jonathan Keeble is brilliant and unfortunately this narrator doesn't live up to his standard. Took me half the book to get used to it.

Good story
This book was spoilt a little for me because of the wild fluctuations in volume, I don't know if it was the reader or the mechanics but despite that an enjoyable book with a decent story line. Nice easy listening.

Dreadful narration
I started series after listening to Calladine and Baylis by the same author. I loved that series and the narration by Jonathan Keeble was first class. He was always going to be a hard act to follow. As others have said the narration on this series is seriously bad. I have listened to a lot of books and never found any books that I was going to send back because of the narration but this came very very close. It was just so hard to listen to. The voices were bad but the worse thing was the emphasis was put in all the wrong places it was just how you read to young children. I’m glad I persevered as the storyline was good and it’s good to find the story of Greco prior to the Calladine series. The narration is just about bearable now so on to the next book.

Meh
I was excited to listen to this after enjoying the Calladine & Bayliss books. The Narrator gives the impression that he is bored and he does nothing for the storyline. I'm not sure it's worth continuing with the other 3 I the series.

Felt I’d heard it before but still enjoyed it
One comment is - if you can’t get the accent right don’t try - just read the story

Enjoyable story - poor quality recording.
My first time with this author / narrator and I wasn't disappointed. I felt I had to drop a star for the narrator though, as I really struggled with the accent of Greco, was he Irish, American or ???? It was obvious who the killer was from the start, but since it wasn't a 'who done it' it didn't matter. The characters were likeable and at only 6+ hours long, it wasn't jammed full of irrelevant stuff as a lot of these book are. Looking forward to the next in the series and hoping the recording is better, as I too struggled to understand what was going on due to the fluctuation in sound. I had to rewind some parts several times to grasp.

Great book, but very difficult to listen to.
I am enjoying the story, Helen Durrant is a great author. Unfortunately, I have had to give up on listening to it as the narrator mumbles a lot of the lines and it is difficult to tell one character from another, so I have got sick of having to rewind and listen to parts again. This is a real shame as I loved the Calladine and Bayliss series.
