Summary

True Blood meets Heroes.

My name is Sierra Reeves, and my life is built on lies. I’m not a regular girl. My telekinetic powers can flip the precarious balance between good and evil.

On the run from those that seek to use me as a weapon, I seek protection from the magic-bearing marshal Gavin McLoughlin. If anyone can teach me how to stay alive, it’s Gavin, a well-connected supernatural who hums with authority.

Too bad Gavin has no interest in training me. He doesn’t trust me and wants me to stay far away from him and his city.

I can’t. I need him, and I’m driven to him like a moth to the flame.

I don’t care how hard I’ll have to fight to get into his inner circle, I won’t give up. But just as I make the tiniest bit of progress with Mr. Stubborn, corpses sprout like mushrooms all over Savannah. If I’m not careful, I will be next....

Sierra grew up not knowing anything about her life. She must trust people that don't trust her. Gavin is the one person to help keep her safe but does not want to be in the same place as her. This book has it all loss and danger in the first page till the last.Margo Ryerkerk is a great story teller and I can't wait to see how the story ends

Sierra was at her graduation when her Grandmother said they had to leave and to pack what things she needed. When someone tried to kill them Sierra realised what she had just been told might be true and her life really was in danger. Really enjoyed listening to this the story was great and the characters drew me in and I’m looking forward to book 2.

Great start to the series.

This book has so much going on. Margo is fearless with the direction of the storyline and characters. An absolutely amazing performance from Winona.

There were good parts to this audiobook - interesting characters, and a mystery to ponder, but I found it hard to sink into and really enjoy it. There were details about some of the characters that were hinted at but never really explained. This may come in a future book, but it was a shame not to give more information in this one. There were bits of the story I found frustrating as well. The narration let the book down for me too. The different accents required for some side characters would challenge any narrator I think, but even with the main characters the story wasn't read smoothly and I couldn't relax into it. It wasn't necessarily a bad book and I'm sorry I didn't enjoy it more, hopefully things might improve in the rest of the series.

A quite interesting story let down by narration

I enjoyed Dark Legacy. I thought the mystery, the world building and writing style were all good and entertaining. Future books promise to be interesting and action packed. I do think book 1 was like a lot of first books in a series in that a lot of time is spent on less answers and more building to the next level. Not a bad thing really just typical of book 1.

I will say the narrators delivery of the book wasn't quite there for me. I don't know if its the way she stresses things or what. I'm not saying its bad per se just didn't reel me in by the voice alone. But I do think that's just as easily in the ear of the beholder than anything else.

Good start
