Summary

True Blood meets Heroes.

My name is Sierra Reeves, and my life is built on lies. I’m not a regular girl. My telekinetic powers can flip the precarious balance between good and evil.

On the run from those that seek to use me as a weapon, I seek protection from the magic-bearing marshal Gavin McLoughlin. If anyone can teach me how to stay alive, it’s Gavin, a well-connected supernatural who hums with authority.

Too bad Gavin has no interest in training me. He doesn’t trust me and wants me to stay far away from him and his city.

I can’t. I need him, and I’m driven to him like a moth to the flame.

I don’t care how hard I’ll have to fight to get into his inner circle, I won’t give up. But just as I make the tiniest bit of progress with Mr. Stubborn, corpses sprout like mushrooms all over Savannah. If I’m not careful, I will be next....

your life is not how you know it

Sierra grew up not knowing anything about her life. She must trust people that don't trust her. Gavin is the one person to help keep her safe but does not want to be in the same place as her. This book has it all loss and danger in the first page till the last.Margo Ryerkerk is a great story teller and I can't wait to see how the story ends

good story

I liked the story line so far and the characters with the world build but I had a hard time listening to the narration. Can't place my finger on it but her voice made it hard to keep up with what she was saying. still a good story though.

Great start to the series.

Sierra was at her graduation when her Grandmother said they had to leave and to pack what things she needed. When someone tried to kill them Sierra realised what she had just been told might be true and her life really was in danger. Really enjoyed listening to this the story was great and the characters drew me in and I’m looking forward to book 2.

Good start

I enjoyed Dark Legacy. I thought the mystery, the world building and writing style were all good and entertaining. Future books promise to be interesting and action packed. I do think book 1 was like a lot of first books in a series in that a lot of time is spent on less answers and more building to the next level. Not a bad thing really just typical of book 1.

I will say the narrators delivery of the book wasn't quite there for me. I don't know if its the way she stresses things or what. I'm not saying its bad per se just didn't reel me in by the voice alone. But I do think that's just as easily in the ear of the beholder than anything else.

A quite interesting story let down by narration

There were good parts to this audiobook - interesting characters, and a mystery to ponder, but I found it hard to sink into and really enjoy it. There were details about some of the characters that were hinted at but never really explained. This may come in a future book, but it was a shame not to give more information in this one. There were bits of the story I found frustrating as well. The narration let the book down for me too. The different accents required for some side characters would challenge any narrator I think, but even with the main characters the story wasn't read smoothly and I couldn't relax into it. It wasn't necessarily a bad book and I'm sorry I didn't enjoy it more, hopefully things might improve in the rest of the series.

Drew me in from the start!

Dark Legacy by Margo Ryerkerk and narrated by Winona Owen is the first book in The Dark Legacy Series. We meet Sierra at her high school graduation, at which her entire life is turned upside down. On the run from those who want to use her, she meets Gavin, a marshal for the magic community. Left under his protection, Sierras' life becomes out of control, and people around her are being killed. Finding out she isn't who she has always been told, and trying to get her magical powers under control, her life is no longer what she expected it to be.
I was drawn in immediately. The world building is amazing, the characters are vivacious and full of personality, and the narration is well done, with each character having their own voice.
Would I listen to this book again? Yes
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes

Excellent paranormal (YA great)

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of Pink Flamingo Productions Review Team. The author brings you in and doesn't let you go. This a very complex paranormal. I love a young woman finding out she has power and discovers the extent. There is still more to the story that I assume will be revealed in future books. Loved the characters in this book. The romance of Sierra and Gavin is touch and go. Very exciting. The narrator does an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story. Looking forward to more books in this series.

Such a fun ride!

This was such a fast pace read for me. The beginning of the story certainly grabs your attention and the mystery of who can be trusted is great. If you enjoy a slow burn romance and a fantasy story with a bit of mystery then consider picking this one up.

amazing

Sierra's life changed so fast but it makes her stonger and she never gives up even when it would be easy to. And with Gavin on her side helping her learn about this world she is apart of now. She is showing this new world that she is stronger and not going to go down easy that she will not be taken so easily.

good start to series

This was a slow burn romance but it left me questioning which people were going to be the main couple for a minute. The main female character has rare magic and people are after her to use her. The male main character has alot of issues, particularly not being over his ex from years ago. There is the usual "I want you but won't allow myself to go there" angst throughout the whole book. It is obvious there will be alot more hurt before these two actually get together. The book wraps up really nicely about this being just a stage in the journey and the characters are off to London. The villian comes off as quite a surprise so I won't say more then that. I needed to jump into the next one immediately to find out what happened next, and I can tell you the anxiety is real!
