About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Now on Netflix as The Call to Courage
Every time we are introduced to someone new, try to be creative, or start a difficult conversation, we take a risk. We feel uncertain and exposed. We feel vulnerable. Most of us try to fight those feelings - we strive to appear perfect.
In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. She argues that, in truth, vulnerability is strength and when we shut ourselves off from vulnerability - fromrevealing our true selves - we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.
Daring Greatly is the culmination of 12 years of groundbreaking social research, across every area of our lives including home, relationships, work, and parenting. It is an invitation to be courageous; to show up and let ourselves be seen, even when there are no guarantees.
This is vulnerability. This is daring greatly.

A life-altering mindset
Thanks to Brene for her decades of research on shame and vulnerability. Her daring greatly manifesto is clearly explained in this book, passionately read by her and knitted with examples and scenarios which can be applied to many aspects of work, life, relationships and parenting. This is one of the many reasons her work is set apart from others and can be truly absorbed and lived to improve your life and the lives of those around you. Her ability to empathise with feelings that can lead to paralysis and ‘looking in on our lives’ inspires courage to make real changes, commitments and take action to be the main protagonist in our own stories. While this audiobook has already inspired and supported some major changes in my life, I will be buying the hard copy to delve further into specific topics and continue the internal development over the coming year.

Enlightening
My therapist recommended I read this. Having adopted survival mode and taught vulnerability is a sign of weakness, it is something I have struggled with. I hope I can try and dare greatly.
