Quality Christian Romance 💟

I'm so glad to have stumbled on books by this Author. It's wonderful to listen to a story with imperfect yet moral characters and an interesting plot with depth. This is the first book in the series and I'm looking forward to more to come.

The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. The male/female voices were distinct and the accents were spot on. 🌼

It was my pleasure to listen and review this book. I was voluntarily provided a copy of this Audio Book and in exchanged am leaving my unbiased review. 💓

Great

"Oh, What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott).
Oh yes, it begins with a lie and snowballs from there. Brilliant concept, brilliant story.
Schoolteacher Kate's faith is put to the test and she learns the lesson that it isn't wise to listen to gossip at all and her life and heart are suddenly filled with pain and confusion when she thinks she is falling in love.
Josh believes that the keeping of a promise is more important to him than clearing his name.
These two characters are thrown together in an unusual situation and become good friends.
There is a mystery to be solved, love gone wrong to be righted, the care and well being of a young girl to be brought about and new loves to be found and allowed to blossom.
A well told and very entertaining story by Barbara Goss, one that I am extremely happy to recommend.
I enjoyed the narration by Kandi Peppers too.
An audiobook version was provided by the author at no cost and this is my honest and unbiased review.

The best of Christian Romance!

This book was a great listen from start to finish. Kate came to Hays to teach at a one-room school house but finds herself involved in more than just teaching, including helping at the bakery, choosing the site for the school, and getting to know the townspeople and their children. As in all small towns, Kate heard rumors about different townspeople, especially Josh, the father of one of her pupils whose wife had recently disappeared. Kate sees the affect this has on little Anna and works to get to the bottom of the rumors. When she does, she learns secrets that she never expected to hear. Themes of friendship, caring and honesty are woven throughout.
I loved the plot and characters as well as the narration. Kandi Peppers delivers a flawless narration of the story, hitting the characters, emotions and pacing just right.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Superb as always

I cannot imagine what it would be like to venture out all on my own in the 1800's to an unknown place in the "wild west." Then when things turn out totally different than expected; living around with strangers, having no school building; falling for a man about to be married to someone else; plus all the adjustments to life in the west. Rumors stir up more fear for Kate and a mystery surrounds the family she must stay with. Lessons about rumors and truth and friendship are ones Kate must learn the hard way. This is a great story and well written so that the listener is spurred on to listen to every last minute of the book.

The narration is very good.

Dangerous Illusions (Heart of Hays #1) was a good read by Barbara Goss. Kate arrives in Hays, Kansas to teach in a one room schoolhouse. She finds out that she will be boarding at the home of Josh Redfield, a man who is thought to have killed his wife. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Loved this!

This story speaks of putting others and their welfare above your own. Of being unselfish, forgiving and love and loyalty amongst family. Also shows just how easily gossip can spread (or be stopped if we refuse to participate); God doesn't like gossips! A beautiful story indeed.
