Summary

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken’s scorching series, revenge is a justified pleasure…

Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot - and bothered.

Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!

Actually…could it be?

Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were great, especially the Grandma! I laughed a lot and swooned too. I hope there is another book in this series coming soon.

Narration was good.

SO DARN GOOD AND NEVER A DULL MOMENT

First of all I have a confession to make.. I am a wee bit of a groupie/stalker when it comes to Teddy Hamilton and I have loved all the books narrated by him.. so of course I was going to get this book. And, if I needed more reasons to get it, they would be that I love RVD books and I also loved the first book in this entertaining series. The well-paced story starts with Jesse and Isla being bitter enemies with Jessie swearing revenge on an innocent Isla.. but, with a rollercoaster forced fake relationship that had a volatile mix of angst, humor, lust, sex, passion and bickering banter, their fun-filled ride ends with love and a sweet HEA. And aunt Goo-Poh, with her quirky antics and chickens, nearly stole the show.

Worth a credit? This was a well-written delicious light story of enemies-to-lovers with awesome dual POV narration and YES, IMO, it is definitely worth a credit.

Good book, not so good narration

This book overall was good. I disliked the female narrator, Lucy Rivers, because she couldn't stay consistant with the male character voice. At first, he sounded dopey, then he was just strange and in the end, it was terrible to have to listen to her! The male narrator, Teddy Hamilton, was great with all voices. I would have enjoyed this more if he was the only one narrating or if he did all the male voices and Lucy just stuck to the female voice. It was a bit disappointing because I really enjoyed the first book of this series and was looking forward to this book. :-(

Funny, sexy, and all things RVD!

RVD has gone and done it again! Gah! I loved this. It took me a little longer to listen than I normally do because I suffered a concussion. I couldn't even read the kindle version of this book because of my head. But when I could listen for the short bursts of time, I forgot about my head hurting and got lost in the story.
I absolutely loved all the characters and have been dying to see where things took Jesse and Isla after reading Dirty Exes. And boy was it ever fun! Even Jesse's suffering was fun for me because of Gupo's (*not sure of spelling since I listened not read) involvement.
Tea, chickens, dragons, a marital bed and red! Lots of red! The laughs were endless with this one!

Couldn’t finish it....

I’m sure the story is good. Book 1 was good so obviously I’m going to listen to part 2. The problem is the female performer changing her voice to adjust to the character. It’s irritating and I just couldn’t do it. We understand when another character is speaking, please do not change your voice for effect.

Liked the story

The second in the series I liked this one the best. Isla and Jessie are at war with each other because in Jessie’s mind they destroyed his reputation by working for his wife even though he knows his wife lied about the information which was that he was not a cheater. Isla is trying to protect her company from Jessie so they began a game of cat and mouse and trying to stay ahead of the other. Turns out they are more alike than either thought and what comes out of it is they go from enemies to lovers even though they tried really hard to fight the attraction. Although I generally enjoy Lucy Rivers I wasn’t a fan this time of her male narration. If you can get passed that you should enjoy the humor and lol moments.

Rainbows and Red!!

I selected this book because of Teddy Hamilton. I'll listen to something new then need my Teddy fix. He's awesome and I love him!!!
I didn't give 5 stars on the performance because of the female narrator.
Sorry, she was good as Isla but I cringed when she was doing male narration.
But I did enjoy the book, especially when Teddy was narrating. He was great as Jesse and I emphasized with him.
I've listened to other books by RVD. Just have to sample more with different narrators. We all know the narration is what makes it worth listening to vs. reading sometimes.
No need for me to resummarize but I loved Gupo and the chickens. This book made me laugh out loud a lot.

Disappointed

I was so excited to read this sequel to Dirty Exes, but unfortunately, it wasn’t near as good. It took me a long time to get into the book, but I’m glad I finished it. It was a cute story.

What bothered me the most was the narrator, Lucy Rivers’s male voices. They sounded so fake to me. I think that she did a good job with the female characters, especially Isla’s aunt. I laughed so hard with some of her dialogue!

I always love the sexy voice of the other narrator, Teddy Hamilton, but I have to say that his voice for Isla’s aunt, is ridiculously horrible. He needs to stick with “guy only” dialogue.

Other than that, it was a cheesy love story with a cliche’ ending.

Can't get past narration

I THINK the story is probably really good, I just can't get past female narration. This is probably just a preference thing for me, but it's as if soooooo many woooooords are draaaaaaawn out. Ya know?
