Everybody knows Daisy Jones and the Six.

From the moment Daisy walked barefoot on to the stage at the Whisky, she and the band were a sensation. Their sound defined an era. Their albums were on every turntable. They sold out arenas from coast to coast.

This is the story of their incredible rise: the desire, the rivalry – and the music.

Then, on 12 July 1979, Daisy Jones and the Six split up.

Nobody knew why. Until now....

😭 Absolutely amazing!

This book felt like one of those celeb documentaries and it follows a band that I wished existed. While The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a huge hit in 2018, this book has outshone it. I was so immersed with the characters and the story, it felt so real. I am still a bit emotional after that last hour but it definitely surprised me. This book was amazing, I highly recommend it to anyone, especially through an audiobook, I think if I had read the book physically it wouldn't have worked as it did with the audiobook.

Excellent narration, pretty boring plot

I really enjoyed the narration and documentary style delivery. The story of the band and their journey was pretty vanilla. I found Daisy Jones irritatingly whimsical.

I found this pretty boring

excellent narration but this is a pretty boring story. I was waiting and waiting for something exciting and it never came. Given the raving reviews I expected much more. I'm really disappointed.

Fabulous . A gem of an audiobook

This is a brilliant book really brought to life as an audiobook. Performances are all excellent, the story unique and so refreshing after the hundred clone detective, unthrilling thrillers and Gone Girl books that are everywhere right now. I love the way this never tried to be a story where all worked out well, it was just an honest account of a band that was believable. I would have loved it to have gone on a bit longer.

This one deserves ALL of the stars!!

Daisy is kind of a Nobody, with being a Somebody dreams, so she makes those dreams a reality, she is exactly the girl who she wants to be and will not change for anyone! #FistBump! Told in the style of a Interview/Documentary, this is the story of how Daisy Jones, met The Six, how the band became a household name in the 70’s, how they sold out stadiums and the like. It also tells the story of what happens after the audience goes home, after the lights have gone out, and after the fans have had their share of you. It is about Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll, and it is also about how and what the band thought about each other, and their take on their own story. Because it is being told by each member of the band, you get 7 or more different takes of the same story, but who’s account is really true? I ADORED this story, it is so cleverly written and so believable, TJR has such a clever way of spinning her stories, once again I found myself Googling “Are Daisy Jones and the Six a real band?” *Spoiler – They’re not” *Although they may be in the near future as this book has been grabbed by Reece Witherspoon for her Sunshine Books Read, and it is currently going into production for a TV series, I can’t wait to see the casting! If you are going to grab ANY book this year, make sure it’s this one, you wont regret it I promise. Think of this as a kind of Fleetwood Mac story, except you get to know the full story, warts and all. 🎧🎧 – I’m not sure if I can talk about the narration without getting all gushy, from what I have read, TJR cast the audio narrators herself, if this is the case, I bow down to her awesomeness, because it is PERFECTION!!!

Art. She had me fooled....

I was so sure this was a real band, I searched the web for ages- trying to find them, their photos, songs. It was only then did I realise this was a mythical group. That is how well written this story was. The characters were alive. Their story, the push and pull of wanting verses needing, of trying to find a place for ones soul in a world of creative chaos... of the many ways true love can manifest....this story sits in your soul. The narration, poetry, storyline, sub themes, emotions...together they move your spirit like a powerful artwork does. It shifts something in you, maybe the compassion we have in knowing how difficult this human experience can be. And the different ways we must learn to love, to maintain peace. Just, wow.... :)

Amazing

I decided to listen to this book because everyone is talking, no actually, raving, about this book, and I get it now. It was such an amazing listening experience. I love the way the audible audiobook had the different narrators and where there was a little clip from each of them before going into the details of the part of the story being told. It was brilliant. The story in itself was somehow inspirational as well. It was raw and real and amazing, but also very sad. It really made me reflect on my life and love and being who you are. This was a wonderful read and I will highly recommend it to any one. This is the second book by Taylor Jenkins Reid I've read and she is now officially one of my favourite authors.

Broke my heart in the best way

I’m not a music person. I used to be though. At first I thought I’ll skip this book despite the hype because I didn’t really like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (Jenkins Reid’s previous novel). This however, really truly blew my socks off. I felt I was in my twenties again, following a band and wanting to be in a band. If you think this is about music, you’re right. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about unrequited love, about saving yourself, about soulmates, and so much more. I loved it to my core. I bought a physical copy to keep in my library just so I can relive the feeling I get hanging out with Daisy Jones and The Six. Choosing to listen to the book REALLY ‘amplified’ the experience. The book is written in oral history form, and it’s the best format for listening via audiobook.
