Summary
Eleven-year-old inventor Harry Scrambles emulates his father, John, who has successfully designed several successful farm gadgets.... But Harry's fledgling ideas, encouraged by his elder, spiteful sister, Lou, mostly end in disaster, and he is soon given the nickname Daft Harry.
However, when jewel thieves turn up and throw the siblings, with their mates, into a deep pit in the woods, Harry's daft ideas turn out to be their only chance for escape.
Later, chased by the two blackguards, both siblings use their finely tuned expertise in trickery in an attempt to catch the crooks, retrieve the gems, and reap a reward. Harry enlists the help of former archenemies, "The Tiger-Striped Goons", and Lou leads the brigands through a vile slurry pit. But with the desperate criminals refusing to give in, the young pranksters are forced to resort to their father's Monster-Vacuum-Blaster machine.
