Summary

Twenty episodes from the second BBC Radio series, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier and Clive Dunn.

In 1973 the BBC adapted its hit TV series for radio, featuring the original TV cast and characters. Three series were broadcast between 1974 and 1976, with episodes adapted from their TV counterparts by Harold Snoad and Michael Knowles.

Now you can enjoy once again these unique recordings, with a supporting cast including John Laurie, Arnold Ridley and Ian Lavender. Among the twenty-one episodes are Don't Forget the Diver, Put That Light Out, Mum's Army, A. Wilson - Manager, and The Day the Balloon Wendt Up.

Great fun

When I was younger I tended to roll my eyes at the seemingly endless repeats of DA on tv. Now I appreciate it more, not just as funny but as rounded characters. Lowe and Le mesurier in particular are so good.

A nostalgia visit.

These collections bring back memories of my childhood watching television. In fact I'm able to picture each episode as they perform these radio shows up to the point where they've left out certain scenes because the sight gags don't transfer very well. Excellent performances from the cast.

Next Best Thing To The TV Show

The show itself is brilliant.

The problem is with the naming conventions. The episodes are listed as chapter numbers as in a book. With this being a radio adaptation of the TV show it would be convenient to have the episodes listed by name instead.

Dad's Army

Dad's Army is a wonderfully gentle poke at our great British humour. Experctly written and perfectly cast they are a treasure. The audio books are slightly different in quite a few scenarios for obvious reasons. Giving the listener almost mostly new to listen to episodes skillfully re written.
