Summary

Greenhouse can be one of the most relaxing places. This is especially true if you have an inherent love for plants. It's just as dandy as it can be easy to build your own greenhouse with the help of greenhouse-building plans. The first time I built my own greenhouse, I couldn't quite contain the pleasure and excitement I had the moment I saw my finished work.

Maintaining the greenhouse is quite a pure joy for me as well. To build my greenhouse, I basically considered a few key things before I started the construction. In this book, I'll be sharing more exciting and important information on building your first greenhouse that you can be proud to call your own.

Good for Novices

I have had a greenhouse in the past. One that I built. I was looking for a book that discussed new technology in greenhouse construction. This books does, but it geared more for the novice. Anyone that has never had a greenhouse, or built a greenhouse, this is a very good book. As with most books, there is something you can get out of them if you are looking for that. I like the book, recommend it for anyone thinking of owning a greenhouse, and have learned a few things I will incorporate in my newest greenhouse

Awesome Beginners Guide

As I am one who has never had any experience with greenhouse gardening this is a good book for me to be a newbie with. He explains things very simply and clearly. I'm looking forward to having fruits and veggies within the year. If you're operating a small or a LARGE greenhouse - this will be your "bible"...... for operation.

I would have done a few things differently ... Especially when it comes to heating, cooling and ventilation !

Get a greenhouse!

My goal is a greenhouse that is attached to my house. This book gave me clear concepts that I could guided everyone ( contractor, space planner, architect ) that saved me much more than the purchase price. I listen the book chapter to chapter. If you really want some solid ideas with easy to understand about greenhouses, .... This is not a book on every detail about building a greenhouse. This book will cover the details that are unique to greenhouses and give you lots of examples. Excellent book. Full of thoughtful ideas that really helped me understand greenhouses and what to expect from my "ideas" and gave me lots of new ideas.

Great information on greenhouses

This is the go-to book for backyard, or even small hobby farm, greenhouse design and construction. There are lots of different schemes here, from season extending frames to full-on solaria and orchid houses. All budgets are discussed and plans cover the full price range.

This book thoroughly goes over all kinds of design

This book thoroughly goes over all kinds of design considerations about building a greenhouse. I like having lots of information and details, which you'll definitely get from the book though it is in short period of 32 mins only, from the obvious to the not-so-obvious. I am a fairly handy person, but I like books that don't assume any background or knowledge, because that way you can be sure that you're not going to miss anything. Every project seems to have some weird "gotcha" that comes out of the blue, so it's great to consider everything. For example, I had not thought about the obvious problems with humidity in a greenhouse and how that might affect my choice of materials, in regard to rust or kind of wood. The book goes through all the pros and cons of different kinds of material for letting through light, and the pros and cons of different structures and designs based on your climate and latitude, the kinds of plants you'll grow, and so forth. BTW, I bought some of the cheap audio books about building hoop houses for <$150, and found that this book contained similar information, and better thoughts. So, I'd consider the book even if you're thinking of doing a cheap greenhouse, even though much of the material won't be relevant, so at least you have a sense of the options. My only complaint, and this is quite unrealistic, is that the book doesn't discuss much about aquaponics, which is the idea of growing fish and plants together. This is the main reason I want to build a greenhouse, and an aquaponics greenhouse has unique design thought considerations, in that you're probably not going to transplant anything but instead will likely grow the plants entirely in the greenhouse, and of course, there's a lot of plumbing going on. To be fair, the author does touch on the subject a bit. I didn't expect him to write about aquaponics at all, and I still found this audiobook tremendously helpful.

Help for the beginner

If you have an interest in building your own greenhouse, or updating, adding features to an existing one, this is a great resource. It is broken down so that it helps one to understand what their needs may be, the areas of the country where one lives and the requirements for the different species of plants. There are also some basic plans, but one would have to be fairly comfortable with tools and wood to take on a project like this. Having said that, the book also goes into kits and what to and not to look for.

Go green

The Complete Guide to Building your own Greenhouse is just that, a complete guide. The author provides information on the structure of greenhouses, the location to build a greenhouse, the tools needed, and even how to build the foundation. What most surprised me about this guide was how easy it was to understand even though I have never built a greenhouse before and posses absolutely no carpentry skills. The guide was very straight forward but also extremely detailed and helpful. I now feel equipped and ready to build a greenhouse with absolutely no other help than this guide. My favorite part of this guide was that it offered advice on absolutely anything and everything related to greenhouses including choosing accessories for the greenhouse and how to keep up with the maintenance. This guide is written so clearly that it makes it easy for any gardener interested in learning the basic steps to building their own greenhouse. "Customize Your Greenhouses" is a breezy easy listen that leaves the listener with confidence and new skills!

Great Intro To Greenhouses

It is, however, very informative concerning the following: things to consider in the building Own backyard greenhouse, very useful in planning, very helpful in choosing among types of greenhouses, gives many examples of actual greenhouses, PVC greenhouse plans makes greenhouse building easy and fast both attached and freestanding, good descriptions of materials available and approximate costs, upsides and downsides of the choices one will make. Is a good discussion of hotbeds and coldframes. I will be building a greenhouse to extend the growing season for my tomatoes, eggplants, chili peppers and tomatillos. I will also be building a hotbed for growing seedlings to get a jump on the growing season. This book has really helped me to sort all of that out and make key decisions about what and how to build. I listen it, nearly chapter to chapter, in just half an hour. It's a quick listen if you already have some experience with the subject, yet it is detailed enough to be useful for the absolute beginner

Very useful. Full of info.

I just moved to the mountains and needed a versatile guide that was both easy to understand and gave me alot of choices. This book filled all my needs and offered lots and lots of informations. I am not a carpenter or a designer just a determined female who now has the tools to build a greenhouse. My neighbor is a carpenter by trade and was also impressed by this audiobook. He keeps borrowing it!!!!!
