Born to fight. Sworn to protect. Destined to be betrayed.

Will Campbell is a Templar Knight, trained for war. But as a member of the secret brotherhood known as the Brethren, he is also a man of peace. After years of bloodshed, the Brethren have helped to create an uneasy truce between the Christian and Muslim forces in the Holy Land. But there are those on both sides for whom peace is not an option. And when an assassination attempt is made on the new Grand Master of the Temple, Campbell finds himself caught in a devastating web of deception and destruction as the Eastern world rushes headlong towards a catastrophic conflict.

I enjoyed the first book on this trilogy, and was totally hooked by this second. I must admit I’m a huge fan of J.Keeble, his narration, in my view was first class. I’ve always found the time line of the crusades rather confusing. Robyn Young has not only written a gripping story of political and religious intrigue, but also clarified how the crusades began and ended. I’m looking forward to listening to the final book. I would definitely listen to these books again.

Enthralling historical novel

langweiliges Machwerk, das in drei viel zu langen Büchern geringe Substanz zu langen Strängen sufblaest. nie wirklich spannend. keine Person kommt dem Hörer nah.

enttäuschende soupopera vor interessantem hintergrund.
