About this listen

The Hundred Years War still rages on and the French army thirsts for Thomas Blackstone's blood. Blackstone battles to strengthen Edwards III's claim to the throne and confronts the might of the French army.

But, when his friend turns assassin, Blackstone is faced with an impossible choice: to save the English prince or sacrifice his son. Will he abandon his sworn oath to protect the future King of England? Or will he protect his family at the cost of the nation?

I can’t get enough of the Master of War. Great characters & story. Ok, there’s a limit to the scope of story/themes, but the way it unfolds is very addictive.

Can’t wait for the next!

A great continuation

The Master of War series is one of the finest in all historical fiction.
Each character is wonderfully crafted, the protagonist Thomas Blackstone is one of the best characters that I have ever encountered. The depth David Gilman gives to Blackstone and his band of fighting men, is truly amazing. As a reader you feel that you are actually acquainted with each of them.
This book is fast paced and the action is clearly described, there's no blurring of lines. Gilman is the master of telling it true, and you never lose track of the plot; no matter the complexity of the twists and turns. His villains are always given depth of character, this in turn creates a wonderfully balanced story.
Every book by David Gilman just gets better and better, he is a true craftsman, constantly striving to produce breathtaking stories.

Yet another David Gilman classic

A really memorable entry into the series. Some great throwbacks to Crecy and other key moments. You can really feel Thomas' mortality in this book and the fact he needs to keep his loin clothe on. But fantastic all the same.

Another fantastic adventure with Tommy and co.

As always good to listen to but definitely areas of weakness in the storyline. Eg why would a battle hardened Prince cower in a room rather than the support the individual fighting off many who were trying to kill him. Makes no sense. Ignoring nonsensical behaviour I enjoyed the book

Not as good as earlier books
