Publisher's Summary

After a number of earthquakes hammer the Sierra Madre region of Mexico, Grupo Verdugo, a splinter group of cartel enforcers, takes control of the drug shipping routes through that territory. Caught in the middle, a small orphanage high in the mountains, desperate for supplies to care for the children and the battered earthquake victims, reaches out to Abel Yeager for help.

Yeager and his friend Victor agree to deliver the needed food and medicine. But Grupo Verdugo seems to have a special interest in starving out the clergy and forcing them to bend to their will. They send a man known as the Executioner to stop anyone daring to assist the people.

Yeager and Victor are in for the biggest fight of their lives as they are forced to move 40 children, a dozen sick and injured patients, and one feisty doctor out of the mission and through mountains infested with vicious killers.

    Story
"Yeager is back and better than ever!"

After devouring book 1, I eagerly jumped into this, and have to say that it was better than ever!! Victor asks Yeager to help him bring much needed food and medical equipment to an orphanage that has been cut off from help because of earthquakes. After the earthquake and with the police's attention elsewhere, a drug cartel have claimed the routes to and from the orphanage as theirs. They are not letting trucks through, so Victor’s cousin, a priest at the orphanage, enlists Victor and Yeager to help them. While sounding perilous, Yeager doesn't think it will be too much of a problem and agrees to help. Little does he know what's in store for him!!

Poor Yeager, he is just settling down with Charlie, in a quiet country house, when Victor comes knocking. He can't refuse to help him so agrees. He ends up going to a remote area to help the orphanage, but ends up in a fight for, not only his life, but the life of all the people in the orphanage! He is once again, an outstanding hero!!!

Charlie, meanwhile, is in her own fight for her life! Someone isn't happy with the events of the first book and wants revenge. With Yeager gone, can Charlie survive and keep herself and her son live?

Once again, Scott Bell has written another amazing and action packed adventure!! This book has so much going for it! So many twists and turns, it's not all action either, there are different stories weaved throughout and we see them all come together seamlessly at the end. Brilliant!

    J. Scott Bennett was amazing as always!! He has so many accents and tones that it is always a pleasure to listen to his work. He makes it feel like more than one narrator is narrating! He also knows how to tell a story!!! He puts so much expression and emotion behind his characters, that they feel real. Highly recommend you check out his work!

    "Book 2"
If you could sum up Yeager's Mission in three words, what would they be?

Yeager’s Mission is a western presented into modern times and continues the adventures of Abel Yeager book 1 Abel will resonate well with most red-blooded readers who enjoy such tales of bravery and chivalry. He’s the knight of old, the giver of justice to an unjust world.

    "Action filled exciting book"

Another great Able Yeager story filled with action, intrigue and suspense. We see many of the great characters we met in the first book and meet some interesting new ones as well. Scott Bennett does a great job of the narration, hitting the different accents right and infusing tension and emotion in all the right places. This story can have you on the edge of your seat, makes your heart ache and has you laughing, all within the same chapter. Even though it is a stand-a-lone story there are threads that run from book to book, creating a depth and richness to the world. You can not help but love the strong, quirky characters in this story, you are drawn into their lives and just don't want to stop hearing about them. Couple that with the great storyline and the excellent narration and you have a definite winner. I received the audiobook at no cost and under no obligation.

    "Mission: Possible"
What made the experience of listening to Yeager's Mission the most enjoyable?

I loved how smooth the narrator's transition from English to Spanish was. It didn't seemed forced or cartoonish - just a really good take on the accent for characters with Spanish as their first language.

If you’ve listened to books by Scott Bell before, how does this one compare?

This one is not as good as the first, Yeager's Law - this one had real long moments of slow plot development.

What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    J. Scott Bennett does a great job in acting the dialogue - especially in the banter between men in battle.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Abel's Mission, should he choose to accept it, is to get the movie under 2 hours.

    "Packed with action and adventure"

This is the second book in the series I have listened to. I found it to be a good story with lots of action and adventure. Great characters that really come to life through both the story and the narration. I would recommend both this book and the original Yeagers law.

"What a great setting for a gunfight!"
    Any additional comments?

I was in the mood for a book full of gunfights, chase scenes, and tough guys. Yeager’s Mission delivered on all fronts! I jumped into this story without listening to the first Abel Yeager book and don’t think I missed anything relevant to this plot. That said, I wouldn’t mind listening to the first on audiobook during my next road trip.

I grew up in the Phoenix area in Arizona, so all the desert landscape scenes really gave me some nostalgic moments. The narration by J. Scott Bennett was a seamless match to the landscape and the characters. I caught myself more than once over the past weeks while going through this adventure muttering about groupo Verdugo in my very best Mexican accent. Thankfully, my wife didn’t catch me muttering, she likes to tease.

I received an audiobook ARC from the author, but let me suggest, Dear Reader, than this thriller is worth your cash! I usually like my action wrapped in the cloak of space travel or dragon slaying, but sometimes I reset my palate with a pure action thriller. My go to is Clive Cussler. Now I can also count on Scott Bell and the Abel Yeager Thriller series.

Abel is a tough retired marine drill sergeant. Along with his friend Victor, a fellow veteran and helicopter pilot, and a couple extra tough guys, Yeager faces off against a Mexican drug Cartel that is starving supplies out of a Mission in the sticks. There are sick people and adorable orphans to protect from the worst kind of thugs.

Scott Bell’s work is well polished. The acknowledgements mention his writing workshop, Scribophile, and I declared, “Of course!” I have done most of my workshopping through Critters, but I used Scribophile for a couple months to double up and run something by my peers while another book was in the Critters workshop. I love being an indie writer and reading the good works of other indie authors. I am also incredibly particular about which indie books I complete and review. Some indies simply don’t take the time to learn and apply good grammar and the use of dialogue and description. Some indie books are pretty bad. The word is Independent Author, not amateur author. We compete with traditionally published professionals with a team supporting their books. It is unfair to readers to deliver an inferior story, especially if the concept sounds great and it’s a simple matter of developing your skills by peer review. My TBR list is nearly empty because I just set down five ebooks that just didn’t make the grade.

There are a number of points of view in the story and by the ending I saw that each was important to the larger story and woven in quite well. There were no loose plot devices to be left wondering about. Except for a certain someone whom I think will emerge in Yeager’s future and bring a grudge!

    "Excellent Series!"

This is my favorite audible series of all time. Yeager and his Mexican friend Victor can get themselves out of the worst pickles and this story is a real complicated mess. Victor is asked by a relative who is also a priest to help out an orphanage and Catholic mission in Mexico after an earthquake and now a drug cartel are making receiving supplies and medicine impossible. Abel Yeager has a big heart, and of course, he agrees to help Victor.
It was also fun to hear about Yeager's woman and her son and how they are getting on in Texas at their new home.
I love this author's storytelling, and the narrator has the most incredible voice with a real talent to do all voices. Would love to listen to more by this author Scott Bell and this awesome narrator J. Scott Bennett. I hope there will be another book in this series.

    Any additional comments?

Another great addition to the series. Very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story. From the moment the book starts you are pulled into the story and all on can do is hold on for the ride. An interesting ride with a few twists you won't see coming. Well written with a great story that's full of action, intrigue and suspense. This is one of those books you know you will listen to repeatedly. This series is absolutely worth your time and credit.

Even though this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone.

Great cast of characters. All the character's are well developed. There are really two stories going on simultaneously in this book. They weave together eventually in a seamless way that flows naturally and smoothly within the story. Having the intertwining stories just adds to the overall enjoyment of the book.

J Scott Bennett did a fantastic job with the narration as usual. Great voice. Easy to listen to for hours at a time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Really good character voices. He just has a way of bringing the characters to life and pulling you into the story so that you feel like your in the middle of the action. He is the perfect narrator for this series. Very enjoyable.
