Summary

A sudden interest in the occult swept through the English village of Plummergen, with Ouija boards replacing the best china in many a cozy cottage.

It might be quite the thing for maiden ladies and persnickity aunts, but it wasn't Miss Seeton's cup of tea...until Scotland Yard requested she go undercover to investigate some sinister shenanigans in the Kentish countryside. A flim-flam was afoot in the local witches' coven...and magic could be a prelude to murder most foul.

Serene amidst every kind of skullduggery, retired art teacher Miss Seeton steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles. Armed with nothing more than her sketchpad and umbrella, she is at every turn the most lovable and unlikely master of detection.

fun and light hearted.

I've really enjoyed these books. they're funny light hearted stories. But if the author is going to base them in England and make them so very English I wish she'd get the language right. In England we do not have flash lights or sidewalks. we have torches and pavements.

I laughed out loud

What people must think of me whilst I’m stuck in a traffic jam and thankful for it so that I can sit and laugh out loud all to myself.

These stories aren’t silly by any means, cleverly thought out with great characters. But if you’re looking for gripping drama this isn’t it. It’s a really lovely step off the train of working, stress and tiredness of life and onto a platform of innocence and comedy.

I’ve loved every one I have listened too so far. Thank you xx

70s folk horror fun

Devil worship and a pseudo-scientific cult come to the Kent village of Plummergen in the third of this series of darkly comic thrillers by Heron Carvic, featuring the accident-prone, accidental anti-detective Miss Seeton. Perfect light touch provided by narrator Phyllida Nash.
