So bloody good
This is one of the best narrated and most authentically authored book on Audible. It is true to its 1980s setting; uncomfortably so quite a lot of the time. And the characterisation and dialogue are are a lesson for all budding (and many published) writers.

Wow
My first David Gemmell novel and I really was blown away. The main character was just SO lovable, he should not have been as he was portrayed as a villain, However, he was so honourable and such a delight I had tears in my eyes on so many occasions.
This is a brilliant story and read so well by Max Dowler. I am really so blown away by this book.

I love Bimbo

What if Druss was born in Croydon?
Very Gemmell, despite the modern setting. Big guy hero does heroic stuff against all the Odds.

Great character
Bimbo is such a great character and it is a great pity that there won’t be any more books with him in it. I would like to see this story as a movie, in fact I would like to see any David Gemmell story turned into a film. The narration was very good with the individual characters being distinct which all you can hope for with an audiobook.

Utterly brilliant
This is a total departure for David Gemmell. It is NOT a fantasy novel, it IS a brilliant story of one man who refuses to back down!
Max Dowlers performance is absolute top drawer, beautiful pacing and great characterisation. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed!!

Fans of the genre and Gemmel should try this.
Not the usual genre for the author, although with perhaps a little flavour of Druss, but as usual a well thought out set of characters, with believable dialogue and interaction. Well narated, with enough characterisation and voice changes to avoid any muddying of the story. In all I found this a good listen , worthy of a recomendation.
