Summary

Young and athletic, London cycle courier Astrid Bell is bad luck - for other people. First Astrid's neighbour Peggy Farrell accidentally knocks her off her bike - and not long after is found bludgeoned to death in an alley.

Then, a few days later, Astrid is asked to pick up a package from a wealthy woman called Ingrid de Soto, only to find the client murdered in the hall of her luxurious home.

For the police, it's more than coincidence. For Astrid and her six housemates, it's the beginning of a nightmare: suspicious glances, bitter accusations, fallings out, and a growing fear that the worst is yet to come. Because it's true that bad luck comes in threes.... Who will be the next to die?

Enjoyable murder mystery but...

I enjoyed this Nicci French book and I liked that the story was told twice but from two different view points. This is cleverly done as it could have been repetitive but the writers have made sure that the additional details and different attitude of the second narrator keep it interesting.

Unfortunately I did have problems with the playback of the audiobook. Every 5 minutes or so, the sound would cut out for 3-4 seconds but I don't know whether this would happen to everyone or if anyone else will experience this. It could have just been my download.

Good book

Thoroughly enjoyed this version of Until It's Over, it had all the twists and turns expected from these two writers and was also very well read by the two readers.

Twists and Turns

it was brilliantly narrated. The horror was at times comical. I just really loved it.

Terrible

One of the worst things I’ve ever listened to. The female narrator puts on such irritating voices, the characters are pure cliches and the story is absurd.

Two sides to every story

I love it when the storylines collide, cross over and show several sides to a story. This book did not disappoint. The murders are described but not I. Too much detail, it’s the story within the story that is more important. The reason why they were killed, and why it was done.
I house share is London with so many characters, working hard, love bing together, keeping each other supported, can that continue. The owner’s girlfriend has different ideas and there are a few sad faces when the news hits.

Thin plot spoils a good narrator and good writing

This is well written and well read so is an enjoyable light listen, but the plot is so thin it feels like Ive been cheated paying a credit for it. Nicci French is usually a favourite of mine, being a husband and wife writing team, but I think this novel must've been one of their first novels reissued. The settimg for the story is a student ish house share in east London, the price of the house is one hundred thousand, these two aspects alone date the story. The main character Astrid, a bike messenger does not work at all, I disliked her to the extend I expected a twist where she was a serial killer too. The only interesting character is Davy, the killer, he is outed early and we follow his story so where is the whodunnit ? Where is the plot ? It's just a case of waiting for bodies to pile up until he's caught and that's it. Disappointing.
