Publisher's Summary

What did she see?

It's been 10 long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.

Anna's lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers.

But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence, and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her? And can she even trust herself?

An old-fashioned thriller that works while talking about psychological thrillers and reviving them with panache and style, be assured you will have a few very enjoyable hours of good entertainment.

What makes this book work is how well we get to know the main character before we get into the plot and how unaware we are of how manipulative the writer is, he knows every trick and uses them to take us in every path he chooses to.
Yes, it is very entertaining and a pleasure.

    "Best Listen so Far!"
What did you like most about The Woman in the Window?

It was so different to all the other so called psychological thrillers that are around at the moment and kept me riveted! I was hooked and kept listening to it through the night and could feel this woman's pain. The characters were real to me, flawed and tormented.Set amost all in one house, it was claustrophobic, atmospheric, giving a feel for Anna's agarophobia, her fears and her bravery.

What does Ann Marie Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

This book is brilliantly narrated by Ann Marie. She has exactly the right voice for Anna, a woman haunted by her past, trapped by her mistakes, struggling to surface and full of self doubt.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't want to switch off!

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the references to some old films enjoyed by Anna such as Gaslight and Rear Window, which are also my favourites. Hitchcock could have done a good job on this book! More please!

    "Definitely worth a listen!! "

It took be about 10 chapters to get into this book because it felt like the narration was a bit dreary and nothing was really happening. I urge you to persevere if you have the same thoughts. It is a cracking book, it isn't an 'on the edge of your seat' kind of thriller but would definitely recommend a listen.

    "Easy to listen to"

I liked the storyline, the narrator and the pace of the story. It was easy to identify with the main character and all the other characters were so well narrated too that it was easy to picture them in your mind and set them apart from each other without difficulty. The storyline kept me wanting to listen to the book and the storytelling was so good that I had a detailed description of the location and settings in my mind.

    "A full on read!"

Fairly compelling. Being tranported to inside Ann s jouse, I did at times have a sense of claustrophobia ...like I was spending too much time in the emotionally charged atmosphere of A Fox s house! Resonances of Room by Emma Donoghoe.

    "Too long!"

Overall enjoyable but there is a lot of waffle. it's almost like a script rather than a book. A bit of fine tuning and it could have be fabulous rather than me skipping 30 seconds of waffle every now and again.

    "Way, Way, Way too long"

The level of detail was too much. The semi hysterical ramblings of Anna were wearing and eventually boring. The narrator sounded too old to be the main character. The prolonged level of tension was exhausting.i just wanted it to be over

    "How disappointing! "

I give up - I simply can’t finish this book it’s that bad. I was so looking forward to it but here we are at Chapter 34 and still pretty much nothing has happened. Don’t bother.
