Summary

He'll do whatever it takes to find his missing sister.

Darren Evans was only 11 when his beloved sister, Carly, and four other teenage girls disappeared, sparking a huge police investigation.

Eventually a woman confessed to their murders. But although she admitted her guilt, Olivia Duvall refused to say what had happened to those five missing girls. Or where their bodies might lie. Ten years later Darren's family are still no closer to the truth. Desperate to alleviate his parents' heartbreak, Darren gets a job as a cleaner in the psychiatric hospital where Olivia was committed, hoping he can make her tell him his sister's fate once and for all.

But playing a killer is a very dangerous game....

Not sure...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, and no. Yes, because I love Karen Cass, she's one of my favourite narators on Audible. She's never disappointed me yet, and this one was no exception. No. Because the story itself looked like it was building up to a really good climax, but then I thought the ending was... Wel, to find a better word... Different. It wasn't what I expected, and I found it a bit disappointing.

If you’ve listened to books by Ali Knight before, how does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any, so can't answer that question.

Have you listened to any of Karen Cass’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes. As stated above, I love Cass. I think she's exillent. I'll buy or preorder a book if I like the plot, simply because she reads it. This one was no exception.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

If the ending had been different, I'd say definitely. But the ending to me, as stated above, was a disappointment.

Any additional comments?

I'd suggest this book for the narrator, but not for the story. You may be shocked when you read the ending.

It’s fine, but nothing to write home about

I didn’t hate it, but I found the story quite unrealistic at times, and the longer the book went on, the less I found myself caring about the story. The end really dragged on, honestly. It’s not a *bad* listen, but if you’re trying to pick between this and another book, I’d go for the other.
