Summary

When a physicist is murdered in LA it seems the killer has no fear of publicity, leaving the body on The Mulholland overlook, a site with a stunning view over the city. And when it's discovered that the victim turned over a quantity of a lethal chemical to his killer before he died, Harry knows he has more than just a single death to worry about. Alongside the forces of Homeland Security, Harry realises he must solve the murder or face unimaginable consequences.

why oh why have irritating music obscuring narration of a BOOK?

I adore connelly's books and want them read aloud clearly, if I wanted music I wouldn't buy a book. Please stop this growing trend of "atmospheric" music on audio books - it is simply annoying.

Music

I am a big Harry Bosh fan. The plots deliver and the writing is slick, but personally I find the music jolts me out of the story. You don't get blasts of sax when you're reading after all.

Short changed

Usual great story, although not quite sure why Michael is turning Bosch into a bit of a joke instead of an ace detective. Marked this down as so short! Feel short changed. Also - lacking continuity. Only a brief mention of daughter & other old characters. Just left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.

Not finest moment

Maybe I should take a breather from Bosch for a while because after reading this one I just feel like slapping him. Regardless of final twist who would hide a witness during a terrorist alert/investigation. Think Harry is starting to disappear up his own backside and that never ends well!

Thin

I love the Bosch series, and many of the familiar ingredients are here. But the core plot is simpler than usual, and there is less underlying action, hence also very little character exploration.

Great, but just too short.

Great book, as are all of the Bosch books so far, but way too short.

Strong story, superb performance

Len Cariou's readings of the Bosch novels are superb. I've bought several just for this. Handles dialogue immaculately, especially humour. Keeps you listening. One of the shorter Bosch's, with a touch of "24" (the whole case is done and dusted in under a day).

Another good Bosch adventure

Good story, well read. I'm reading all the stories in order and enjoying how Bosch develops as they go.

Rachel’s voice is wrong

I love all Harry Bosch books. Well written and having read them all I’m now enjoying the audio books.
