Summary

When Max I Versson, codirector of a small firm of freelance bodyguards, is introduced to North London nightclub owner Roy Fowler, he immediately senses that the man is trouble.

Fowler wants security for a meeting with a group of businessmen who want to buy his nightclub. Five grand for a couple of hours' work is too tempting to turn down, so Iversson - against his better judgment - takes the work....

Fantastic

Great book, story well written and narrated. Thoroughly enjoyed the pace and the complexity of the plot.

let down by narrator

story was great and reading ability of the narrator is not in question.

However his attempts a variable character voices was not to the standard I have come to expect on this application.

this book was superb at the beginning...

...dragged in the middle and lost its way dreadfully only to happily find light at the end of the tunnel, eventually. Overall happy I bought it and persevered...

Awful

This was a struggle to finish, narration is awful with little if any distinction between characters.
First time I have skipped to the end of a book, hopefully the last.

NARRATION KILLED IT

I love Simon Kernick books - sadly, I am returning this as the narration is diabolical... I only got to chapter 5 before giving up....
