Publisher's Summary

Trans Air flight 88 is hijacked on approach to Kennedy Airport, initiating the most terrifying hours in the lives of the passengers and crew. When the police storm the plane, killing the terrorists, everyone involved believes the nightmare is over. But it's just the beginning as a serial killer stalks the streets of New York, targeting the surviving hostages. Now it's up to NYPD lieutenant Raymond Hyte to stop the massacre. The diabolical contest between the cunning killer and the brilliant cop recreates another hostage terror situation - only this time, it's New York's five boroughs under siege. What made the experience of listening to The Hyte Maneuver the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the dialogue between the hijacker and the main character. Both thought of themselves as foxes but who will win? And there lies the fun of listening to the story.

What other book might you compare The Hyte Maneuver to and why?

This was the first time I have listened to a book like this but I really enjoyed David Wind's style and will definetly look for more books by this author.

What does Tim Welch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tim was very professional with his delivery and did a great job differentiating the characters voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I dont want to spoil the book for people reading my review before listening to the book. I will say that the book has many surprises and that is what I enjoyed the most. This story will appeal to anyone that likes action, thrillers, or suspense.

"A Must Have for Action and Suspense!!!"

This is an extremely fast moving story; a page turner, if you will, and holds plenty of twists to keep the reader just a bit off balance right up until the end.“A fascinating and complex murder mystery that keeps readers involved and guessing till the exciting climax.”

    The Hyte Maneuver
    : David Wind

This suspense thriller/ police procedural/ murder mystery begins with a plane being hijacked and continues with the investigation of what happened. The listener will be drawn into the story and will spend their time "helping" solve the crimes. David Wind is a new to me author, but I plan to check out more of his work.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Tim Welch.

    "such a good book"

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. I was very impressed by this book. It was action packed throughout the whole thing. The plot was completely believable and well developed. I had my suspicions as to who the killer was , but it wasn't confirmed until the very end. I don't usually enjoy terrorist plots, but this one was a great mix of terrorist and serial killer. The narrator was smooth to listen to. Excellent story that I am glad I read.

    "Great book with great narration."
If you could sum up The Hyte Maneuver in three words, what would they be?

    Eye-catching/Suspenseful/Intersting

What did you like best about this story?

For starters, I love the setting of where the book takes place considering I'm form New York so just living through what happened on 9/11 and hearing about the stories that take place daily makes me relate to these kind of stories. I'm a big fan when it comes to action too and this book keeps you sucked in wanting to know what happens next. Terror/War/Robbery movies and books always catch my eye. Who doesn't love a good thriller with a serial killer on the loose?

Have you listened to any of Tim Welch’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to another one of Tim's performances before and they both have not disappointed. The tone of his voice throughout the narrative does not lull one to sleep and keeps me engaged in what I'm listening to. I enjoy having the books read aloud to me as well as I can relax and close my eyes and imagine whats happening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, because of all the suspense and action that happens its like your on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. It's something that draws you in. Listening to it makes it even easier.

    Any additional comments?

Overall, I enjoyed what I listened to I feel the narrator does a great job at keeping the audience in tact with what book they're listening to. I would definitely recommend.

    Story
    "Great story, poor narration"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Get a narrator that has more range. All the characters sounded the same and it was difficult to determine who was talking.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hyte Maneuver?

I loved the tension in the hijack scenes at the beginning of the book especially when the hijacker was threatening to shoot everyone and Lt. Hyte finally makes his move.

What didn’t you like about Tim Welch’s performance?

All the characters sounded the same. He made many editing mistakes, leaving double takes in and I noticed a metallic sound a couple of times like his watch hit the microphone or something. Also, his characters always sounded as if they were yelling at each other even during tender moments.

Do you think The Hyte Maneuver needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes the characters were great, I would love the go on another mission with Lt. Hyte.

    Story
    "Suspenseful and engrossing!!"

This is an action packed story from beginning to end and will keep you guessing on the killers identity. The story starts with plenty of action when the plane is hijacked by terrorists and Hyte is called in to negotiate the release of the the passengers. After several maneuvers, all coach passengers are released but not first class passengers, which triggers a series of events after the hijacking ends in the death of the terrorists. Highly recommend...

    "Engaging storyline with a twist"

The Hyte Maneuver is a well written, engaging storyline. The initial plane heist draws the listener in and the plot twists that come after keep the listener engaged. This is a great who done it mystery. The narrator initially left something to be desired. However, once I listed a while I had no problem with the narration. I would suggest this book to a friend and read further novels written by this author.

    "Quite a Flashback"
What did you love best about The Hyte Maneuver?

I loved the way the plot twisted, first being about the hijack, then something entirely unexpected!

What did you like best about this story?

Again, I liked the way the plot took unexpected turns, turning a beloved character (Emma) into a diabolically dangerous and demented killer. That was so unexpected!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tim Welch?

Dick Hill would have been good. Just about anyone but Tim Welch. His narration was very stilted. I would have stopped listening if the story had not been so darn engaging.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Once the plot got going, after the hijacking was over, yes, I wanted to keep listening until i found out who the serial killer really was. Very engaging.

    Any additional comments?

Great listen for an older book. Thanks to David Wind for the credit in exchange for an honest review.
