Summary

Read by Hugh Fraser who play Captain Hastings in the popular TV series.

Lucy Angkatell invited Hercule Poirot to lunch. To tease the great detective, her guests stage a mock murder beside the swimming pool. Unfortunately, the victim plays the scene for real. As his blood drips into the water, John Christow gasps one final word: ‘Henrietta’. In the confusion, a gun sinks to the bottom of the pool.

Poirot’s enquiries reveal a complex web of romantic attachments. It seems everyone in the drama is a suspect – and each a victim of love.

Sorry couldn't recommend this one.

I enjoy Hugh Fraser, but the book was disjointed, couldn't wait for it to finish.

So Slow

I am a big fan fan of Agatha Christie and had never read this book. What a disappointment. I found it to be very slow and very boring and very very predictable.

such a wonderful narration by Hugh Fraser.

such a wonderful narration by Hugh Fraser, I simply fell in love with the character of Lucy. I wouldn't have felt that way had I read the book myself, Hugh Fraser brings the characters to life in a way that my mind could never do. I love audiobooks for that very reason and I love Agatha Christie's beautiful winding stories, so easy to listen to and so satisfyingly neat and all tied up in a bow at the end with no loose ends. wonderful.

Cracking story

I really enjoyed this Agatha Christie. story, particularly the twists in the story before the identity of the murderer is finally revealed. Hugh Fraser does an excellent job of narrating as usual.

Lady Angatell's character and the wonderful humour in a grand murder mystery.

The narration is as wonderful as always with the magnificent Hugh Fraser whose characterisations are pitch perfect. The laugh-out-loud humour of some of the characters is beautifully observed, and the great Dame's spite for the "upper" classes is particularly dagger sharp.

Cannot believe Agatha Christie wrote this

I wouldn’t recommend this at all. The story was weak and contrived and I disliked the performance very much.
