Summary
"I've been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she has her dry cleaning done, where she works. I don't know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she's scared. But I will."
Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.
Colin's job was to abduct Mia as part of a wild extortion plot and deliver her to his employers. But the plan takes an unexpected turn when Colin suddenly decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota, evading the police and his deadly superiors. Mia's mother, Eve, and Detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them, but no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family's world to shatter.
An addictively suspenseful and tautly written thriller, The Good Girl is a compulsive debut that reveals how, even in the perfect family, nothing is as it seems.

Very Enjoyable Listen
I very much enjoyed this book. The story was good it had some good twists and turns. It moved at a good pace. The book swaps between four characters (well three for the most part). It follows the story of a girl who has been kidnapped. The main characters are the kidnapper, the police man looking for the her and the mother. I can't say too much as I don't want to spoil the story, but it is interesting.
The narration was excellent. I liked the four person narration. I found all the voices enjoyable to listen to.

Very Disappointed
What disappointed you about The Good Girl?
Unconvincing love story and implausible plot. The love story was described as encompassing but I didn't feel it. If they were so close why didn't Mia confide in Colin. I felt no compassion for the characters.
Would you ever listen to anything by Mary Kubica again?
I have already purchased another book by Mary Kubica, I have not yet listened to it and I am now wondering if I have made a mistake.
Did the narrators do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
The narrators did a good job and I liked Abe.
What character would you cut from The Good Girl?
Difficult to say as the only character I had any liking for was the detective.
Any additional comments?
No.

Not working for me!
Any additional comments?
This novel is written with each chapter changing characters (and narrators) and time frame eg 'the detective before (the kidnap)' 'the mother after'. The content of the story is good, but I just couldn't settle into it due to the change from one chapter to the next. I found myself just getting really interested in an aspect, only to be taken elsewhere. Shame, but I must return it.

Gripping
An interesting take with the story told by the kidknapper, mother and detective
I was gripped throughout, the story is sad when 'Owen' opens up about his life in poverty and although I guessed some of the narrative, the ending was a complete surprise

'Girl on a train' meets 'Gone Girl'
Written from the various charters points of view. Keeps you wanting to follow the story of the individual characters that form the whole story. This is a book of love and betrayal. The basics plot line of a kidnapping that doesn't go quite to plan. The characters are well written allowing the reader to see the interactions in their own minds. Although there are some predictable elements their is plenty that is unpredictable and keeps you listening. If you like Gone Girl and Girl on a Train you will like The Good Girl. The narration is also excellent and well cast.

Gem of a Book
I enjoy a lot of books and audio books but every now and then comes one that stands out The Good Girl is a stand out book. I really enjoyed the writing style I felt it captured real depth of the characters without wasting words and making me wish the author would just get on with it. The narration so often a deal breaker for me is just well ... perfect. My most enjoyable listen in a while.

Highly Overrated
The novel way of telling the story was interesting at first, but became tedious due to the unnecessary length of this book. For such as simple storyline, it definitely felt unnecessarily drawn out. The epilogue gave a slightly interesting twist, but this 10+ hour book definitely could’ve been 5 hours long. If I had to do again, I would’ve found something more thrilling with a better plot.

Super twist!
Loved this book. The changing between characters going back and forth in time kept it interesting and guessing how it would end. Edge of your seat stuff.
