Summary

In the wake of a dying man’s apparent suicide, the skeleton of a young woman is discovered on a windswept hillside. Detective Hjalti Hentze suspects that it is the body of a Norwegian woman reported missing 40 years earlier, while a commune occupied the land, and whose death may be linked to the abduction and rape of a local Faroese girl.

Meanwhile British DI Jan Reyna is pursuing his investigation into his mother’s suicide. But as he learns more about her final days, links between the two cases start to appear: a conspiracy of murder and abuse spanning four decades. And as Hentze puts the same pieces together, he realises that Reyna is willing to go further than ever before to learn the truth....

Great

Read all three in the series and really liked them. Great characters and scenery. And the narrator does Scandi speak very well.

i didn't want this series to end.

I've enjoyed this trilogy so much, i am disappointed that it's over. Great characters, and the glimpse into life on the Faroe Islands has been fascinating (except the grint-i'm vegan so really didn't relish the depiction of the slaughter of the whales).
I would readily accompany Jan back to the Islands if he decides that is what he is doing with his life.
The narration was wonderful to listen to, the pronunciation of the names etc, sounding almost lyrical exactly how I imagine them to speak. overall, a series i would read, and listen to again!

Great trilogy!!

I really enjoyed listening to these 3 books. Reminded me very much of Anne Cleaves’ Shetland series, high praise indeed!! Highly recommended.

Loved this series

I came across this series by chance when I couldn't find anything by my favourite authors and I loved all three books. The narrator was excellent. I hope the author reunites these characters one day....... and gets the same narrator

An excellent conclusion to the trilogy!

We have thoroughly enjoyed the three books of this trilogy, made all the better for having an excellent narrator, able to give life to the characters, with believable accents and nice little personal touches for each. The second book was a bit of a 'filler,' but the last book nicely rounded the story, answering any lingering questions in the reader's mind. We know when we have enjoyed a story, when we are left sad to say goodbye to the characters therein, and this was certainly the case here. Would love to hear more Mr Ould!

Brilliant retelling by Matt Addis

Ould’s Faroes novels are gripping and Matt Addis is the best reader possible. Fantastic stuff.
