Publisher's Summary

Dorian Robert-Houdin, the three-and-a-half-foot gargoyle chef who fancies himself a modern-day Poirot, is slowly turning into stone, and it's up to Zoe Faust to unravel the alchemical secrets that can save him. When they discover that a long-lost stone gargoyle with a connection to Dorian has reappeared in Europe, the stakes are even higher. From Portland to Paris, Zoe searches for the hidden knowledge she needs, but a cold case that harkens back to 1942 throws her off course. With an ailing friend desperately trying to discover his own elixir of life and a new romantic interest offering the first chance at love she's had in nearly a century, Zoe is torn between a dangerous form of alchemy and her desire for a safer life.

    "The best of the series!"

If you are new to this series: go to book 1 and start there! You will otherwise be very confused. This series is meant to be read in order.
With that being said, this was the BEST book of the series. Things really came full circle in many ways, we get answers for old questions & meet a new cast of characters who play a huge role. Not everyone is how they seem, and I was constantly being surprised by what happened next.
The end of this book is very satisfying.. finally! There is some closure on things with Dorian, but it leaves the door open for more ... I hope there is a book 4!

"A satisfying end to the trilogy."

Julia Matyka did a brilliant job, as always. The death cycle of "Not Untrue Alchemy" comes to a satisfying conclusion, and the fate of everyone's favorite gargoyle is resolved.

    "Repetive and whiny"
What would have made The Elusive Elixir better?

By the third book, it would be nice if the main character would quit whining so much! And to repeat the same info again and again in the same book. We got it the first time you mentioned it, enough!

What do you think your next listen will be?

    not this author

"What a GREAT series. Loved them all."
    Any additional comments?

This was a great series, creative and fun. This last book was better than #2 and was a good finish to the series. When they discover that a long-lost stone gargoyle with a connection to Dorian has reappeared in Europe, the stakes are even higher.
