Summary

Real estate mogul Derek J. Turpin, a chocolate company, and a journalist present the Dickens Detective Agency with its greatest challenge yet. After returning from a honeymoon cruise aboard a sailing ship, Damien and Millie land a plum assignment - a trip to Montreal to run a simple background check on a chocolate company. But, their plans are disrupted when a fellow passenger from their cruise comes to them for protection.

What did Barbara Lafleur, a travel writer for a Montreal newspaper, learn about Derek Turpin's activities that has put her in fear for her life? After she is struck by a car in a deliberate hit-and-run, it's up to Team Dickens to put a stop to Turpin's schemes.

Really enjoyable - narration was brilliant

Oh just loved this and at least twice throughout the narration I shed a tear it was so emotional which didn't expect from a detective novel, there were times that I wanted to throw things at Dick as well. These are all signs of being really involved in the story.

It was really interesting to see how the location has moved a little so I am getting to explore bits of Canada and I also learnt a bit on the drive to Canada.

Thoroughly recommend.

I was given a free copy by the author but this in no way impacted my review - just loving the series.

Another outing for Dick and Millie. Good listening

In this third book in the series Dick and Millie get to go abroad, investigate dodgy dealings and brush up against political interference in the justice system.
I won't give away the story but I will say that I did enjoy this book, I like that we get to meet regular characters as each book takes them forward, relationships develop and lives change.
I love the the setting in the 1980s which doesn't feel historical on one level but then when they are trying to catch people in when phoning we are reminded how much has changed in the last 40 years.
I liked the narration on this book, it fit well with the story and it was a bit better than the previous books.
This is definitely a series I recommend if you like PI/ detective noir stories.

Very good!

This was a very good story with interesting twists. I realise I don't like a change in narrators between stories and that reflects badly but I hope it doesn't. Dyson did a great job.

Excellent

Follows on perfectly from book 2, wish I was better with words so I could do these books review some justice. Plot great and again easy to follow has everything a detective mystery should have and more. Was dubious at first listen as it was a different narrator but once I got into the story realised he was just as good as the narrator on the other two books. Book 4 can't wait !!
I was given this book free for a unbiased review.

Compulsive capering

This series keeps getting better and better. This book sees some very dodgy dealing indeed, as well as the first hint of disharmony in the relationship between Damien and Millie. The investigation into fraudulent business practices has a few, at first appearance, disparate threads. But with her usual flair and finesse, Ms Entis enticingly weaves each thread together for a final reveal of a beautiful tapestry. Then, just as you're starting to relax and commending Dick and Millie on a job well done, a great big, ginormous spanner gets thrown in the works. Now I'm on tenterhooks waiting for book 4. Harry Dyson turns in another excellent performance in a series I have grown to love. Applause all round for this great story.

Enjoyable story, very good narration

I enjoyed this audiobook - the third instalment in a series that (in my opinion) goes from strength to strength as it progresses. There is continuity between the second book and this one, with the action at the beginning of the book directly following the end point of the last book. At the same time there are fresh twists and turns enough to keep things interesting, and the listener guessing. The narrator handled the material very well, and did an excellent job with all the characters' voices - male or female. A good audiobook and worthy addition to the Damien Dickens Mystery collection.

Great book

I really enjoyed this book. Great continuation of the Caper serie. Damien and Millie are back with their adventures. The narrator was excellent with his narrating.

Good listen

Another good book in the series, I like the characters in this series and the plots that make them so interesting. I love the fact they now have a labradoodle.
