Exceptional read

What made the experience of listening to Step on a Crack the most enjoyable?

Such a cleverly, and at times exceptional book. The concept is very clever and the narrative very very well done.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Step on a Crack?

Without giving too much away, the scene in the hospital with the children. Reduced me to tears !!!

Which character – as performed by John Slattery – was your favourite?

Has to be the grandfather! All knowing, but with such broad shoulders you know he is there for you.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The planting of the tree.

Any additional comments?

A really good listen!! Very good description at all times that created pictures in your mind as it progressed, helped along buy such good narrative skills.!!

Good story…ruined by horrendous Irish accents and stereotypes!!!

Enjoyed the storey and pace but the butchered Irish accents and stereotypes were seriously bad!

Unexpectedly Enjoyed

If you could sum up Step on a Crack in three words, what would they be?

Heartwarming, intriguing, riveting

What was one of the most memorable moments of Step on a Crack?

When the main characters wife died

What does John Slattery bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The feeling of being there with the characters

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

This could really happen.......

Any additional comments?

I usually only like women authors but a friend recommended The Women's Murder Club and I listened to all 12 in record time. My mother was really poorly in hospital at the time (sadly died in September) and I couldn't sleep. When I'd read the WMC books I used to fall asleep regularly so I bought the Michael Bennett book in the hope it would help. It was a riveting interesting read and it filled my head with words at a time I really didn't want to think. It helped me sleep as I often drifted off while listening and if I didn't I enjoyed the story so much it stopped me grieving (if only for a short while). The characters were excellent and the voices were really believable as what you would imagine them to sound like, I'm now working my way through that series and am enjoying every minute of the books so far!

At his best

As usual James Patterson has you gripped and unable to put down this book.
Tragedy strikes twice in this book and breaks your heart at the same time as it speeds up it's beat. Exciting ,intriguing and appauling. A must for any Patterson fan!

Insightful!

Not bad. Almost every chapter, reflecting on how the price of freedom suffers a huge price; while the preservation of sanity, almost comes at a loss. To be honest, in my own opinion, there were no winners in this book, but just a few lessons to learn.

A must listen to.

Being addicted to crime thrillers and such like, I was delighted with the curve the writer has put into this story. Quite brilliantly set out with an excellent by-line of 10 little people made this extremely interesting and an abominal villan who really gets under your skin. Miss this one at your own loss!
