Publisher's Summary

A cyberattack on an obscure US dam leaves thousands dead and the government wondering who attacked it, and why. When they realize it is just the tip of the iceberg - and that the safety of all of America is at stake - the president has no choice but to call in Luke Stone.

Head of an elite, disbanded FBI team, Luke does not want the job. But with new enemies - foreign and domestic - closing in on her from all sides, the president can only trust him. What follows is an action-packed international roller-coaster, as Luke learns that the terrorists are more sophisticated than anyone realizes, that the target is more extensive than anyone could image - and that there is very little time left to save America.

A political thriller with non-stop action, dramatic international settings, unexpected twists and heart-pounding suspense, Situation Room is book three in the Luke Stone series, an explosive new series that will leave you listening late into the night.

"From the sublime to the ridiculous"

The narrator did what he could with the plot. Anyone who can read what sound like campy TV batman fight sounds ( KaPow) deserves credit. There were so many places where the reader/listener was expected to suspend belief in not only technical and political reality but also the mere passage of time that this would be better characterized as a fantasy novel.

never going to read another one of his books, non-stop hating of the country and always trying to be socially conscious.

"Jack Mars is no Tom Clancy"

I hoped this novel would would be something like the Tom Clancy but Mars has not done near the resrarch that Clancy did. I guess this book was supposed to bring in the LGBT community (along with liberals in general) . I will look elsewher from now on.

    "Very engaging"

These Luke Stone books (after the first one) are somewhat predictable ... like a "24" episode, our protagonist appears to "go rogue," but ultimately redeems himself in a major way.

However, that in no way diminishes my enjoyment of them... I actually look forward to my commutes so I can catch the next couple chapters.

    "Save Trudy Slay Becca"

Crazy solution to the Kim/NK issue, really didn't expect that. Not realistic but, l usually feel the solution to fictional problems are overly realistic. Love luke and gunner, hate becca. Distracting but real for both luke and the reader.

    "Good start but gets implausible"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The character and initial story are fine and an excellent fun read.

What could Jack Mars have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The 2nd half and especially towards the end the time lines became unrealistic. The plausibility of the 2nd half was also ... well ... terrible. An aggressive bot could do a lot of damage but it would not take out so much and so fast. Military systems and military communications would have not been affected (especially ship bourn systems). Simply parachuting into NK would have been detected and there is no way the team could have gotten from the coast that far inland and into a venue in the time allowed. Chinese troops could never have mounted a rescue and travelled the distances in the time provided. Trudy would not have been so easily incarcerated nor so easily pardoned. It would never have been that easy to get to Kim Jong .... The entire NK plot was guaranteed to leave NK a cinder and at most wound the US (severely but not fatally). Even if no one in NK would have interfered with it, China would have been well aware. China would not have sat on the sidelines with so much at stake. Nothing was said about other actors (Russia/Iran) taking advantage of the situation.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Dam scene was right on the money and very plausible.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The problems with the ending could have been easily researched and corrected.
