Summary

Another classic Poirot story brought to life by Hugh Fraser.

Beautiful young Elinor Carlisle stood serenely in the dock, accused of the murder of Mary Gerrard, her rival in love. The evidence was damning: only Elinor had the motive, the opportunity and the means to administer the fatal poison.

Yet, inside the hostile courtroom, only one man still presumed Elinor was innocent until proven guilty: Hercule Poirot was all that stood between Elinor and the gallows…

Great story if a little predictable. Let down by narration though.

I was excited to find another Poirot story read by David Suchet and it really it didn’t disappoint. I prefer his narration to Hugh Frasers purely because his Poirot is brilliant. Unfortunately I became increasingly frustrated that he dropped the last word in many sentences so as to make them completely inaudible. I can’t under why it wasn’t picked up on by the producers. Much of it was so quietly spoken that again I couldn’t hear it.
Overall the story was a classic AC and if you can get past the narration issues, I’d thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant

It was classical hercule
It met my expectation however I still believe that Hugh Fraser should narrate the books. Suchet was good but sometimes distracting.

My new favourite Christie!

I really thoroughly enjoyed this Christie book with the consistently fantastic David Suchet narrating - sometimes a Christie can be a bit hit and miss but I found this one fascinating and entertaining! Highly recommend for those who love the comfort of Poirot and Mr Suchet.

Great Story.

Great story but spoiled David Suchet who's narration is not so good you can't hear a lot of the other character's as he speaks so quietly you can hardly hear them, it's like he's moving away from the mic. He's done this in other stories I wish Hugh Fraser had narrated all the Poirot Audio books.

SAD CYPRESS

Hard to get into at furst, but if you preserve you'll find an enjoyable story as with all Agatha Christie stories there's a twist.

One of Christie's best

I love this one. Both the book and the BBC live-action adaptation are really good, and they both star David Suchet! He's an excellent narrator, and not just for Poirot; he has a great range of voices and reads very well. What sets Sad Cypress apart in the Christie canon is the emotional conflict at the core, which gives the whole mystery an intensity and feeling of mounting danger. The mystery itself is excellent and has a very satisfying solution.
